It does look xray-like, doesn't it? That adds to its poignance -- innocence, with life's pain still ahead -- think I was missing some of the dimensionality at first look. It's a beautiful piece, and more and more detail becomes noticeable each time I go back to look at it.

Stunning Marcia--so cool how you've made her body look like an x-ray or something. Reminds me of  Michael DeMeng's work.

Here is the latest from Garbage Artist--Erni Bar

Nancy,  don't send me a bottlecap if you love it. It might just go in a box with a bunch of junk. I don't know if I will do anything with these caps. I'm trying to get rid of some of my junk so I should either use them or lose them. You all have got me thinking, though....

Oh I see now--it fooled me. Whatever you did to it, it's beautiful. The nails are great too, as is the dress. The whole thing "does it" for me, and I love that you call it a shrine. Those bottlecaps are Wonderful! I have exactly 1; if it can be located and it's different from what you have, would you like it? I love it but will never do anything with just 1.

Nancy, if you're referring to the horizontal lines, that is a piece of painted corrugated cardboard.  And here are a few bottle caps. They tend to get flattened in parking lots and oxidize nicely. Most I find are from Budweiser - not very colorful.

Just looked again, and that IS a great chunk of metal -- and really works as you used it.

That is very fun, Marcia; I especially love everything about the box itself, particularly the multicolored roundish sticks piled vertically up the back? Hard to describe, but what are those?

Erni (and all others so interested in theft :--) , last winter in the dead resort town we live in there was a long string of break-ins into summer cottages. The robbers would leave everything but the copper piping system throughout, which they meticulously removed.

I've been following this thread when I have time and have enjoyed seeing everyone's contributions. Erni, do you find smashed beer bottle caps? I've been meaning to do something with mine but find it hard to part with some of them.

I dug out this dusty "shrine" made with a found ford, lidless cigar box, and a chunk of metal that seemed to me to be heart shaped.

Welcome Dean!

Erni-here cans aren't worth much but they've had people stealing manhole covers and brass urns from the cemetaries for scrap metal, which is why most things have to be bolted down. Someone stole a buddha from our yard.

Well Val says this is the place for me, as I live in 3D.
