Whether you create in a studio, atelier, shed, kitchen or on a coffee table, the artists' workspace has always been an intriguing place of information and interest to people.
Please share photos of YOUR mail art creating area. I want to see Artspaces in action, so no tidying up!! Let's see your pens, tools, glues, stamps, dirty wine glass, rubbish bin, storage space, etc!
Let's have a snoop in this group!!

I work on many pieces simultaneously - not just mail art: paper, mixed media, collage, panels- and I had run out of space to place incomplete work as it dries. So I built a storage rack with many shelves, shown here in the back corner. Now my…Continue

Here's my artspace today, about like it usually looks. Semi-controlled chaos.

Vizma, my poor cyclamen is outside now as the central heating does not suit it. It will survive the winter in a protected corner of the garden, it is several years old and seems to like this system. You may have been able to see in all the mess a spider plant in the studio, they say it purifies the air.
The nandina is in the sunnier part of the garden, which being this is England is not saying much so that can be the problem, thanks Linda
Taidgh I feel for you I did not have anywhere to work for years and years. I did find the floor very handy, Even now I often finish there as all the surfaces get covered with stuff. Of course the best is to have a child, spend 18 years raising him/her, pack her/him to uni and get his/her room for yourself.
Louise your boxes are superb!
I have done some reorganizing in my studio and created four corners, anticlockwise sewing, art, computer and ironing. Also indoor gardening but that has not got a designated corner. This way I can do a bit of everything as the mood takes me or as the deadlines command. The ironing table is multiuse.
View entering the room. (I said reorganizing, not tidying up!)
Window and cat. It is evening, not that it matters, Julian sleeps round the clock.
Louise, these vanitas boxes are just wonderful. Congrats on your job !
I'm kind of late in answering this question from a few days ago; I'm still catching up from last week.
They could be either Vanitas Boxes or Cornell Boxes; I don't think there are any rules really. Btw, did you see the Vanitas App? It's pretty cool.
Here's are some Cornell ( or Vanitas) styled boxes I made awhile ago, as promised on the ZKK Group page:
In my mind I've got great space for artspace. I think I need to draw it!
artspace is in your mind but visual memory can't be scattered as papercuts.....
Great to see Bris Chris' artspace! I wonder if that is where she was flooded? And I can't believe you haven't had many more photos of artspace! Come on guys!
I have no artspace at the moment. I'm operating out of biscuit tins, shoe boxes and bins. What I would give for a desk. Any ideas how one can create an artspace when there is no room for one?
One of the joys of receiving mail art is that the materials and the processes you all have/use are so varied, depending on where you live. I've seen M Nidham's amazing studio here and what I want to know is does he have an amazing machine for making the plastic sleeve that he sent me this wonderful card in, or do they just make those in Oman? I always want to open M Nidham's letters, they are so fat and inviting... I imagine truths and philosophy that might just set the world right, but I guess they are simply objects in their own rite. Thank you!
My cat's space on my work table is larger than the available working space for me!
I love cyclamen but it's too hot here to survive the year, we have to buy them every year when they flower. Love the smell of them! Are they in your studio Martha?
