Even though it makes sense that we can look on each others profiles, you may want to add your address here and any blogs or other accounts you want highlighted. This way it's in a closed environment and we all get to share.

What's your default? 7 Replies

Because my friend Matt asked me this the other night, I had to think about it. His is painting a blue sky and some clouds, then he waits to see if anything more comes. His skull for Skull Appreciation Day was just the blue sky & clouds cause…Continue

Who will you send  your first piece of mail to? I've been thinking about this a lot. Will it be someone in this group? Will it be one of the many mail artists I've exchanged MA with over the years? Will it be one of my letter writing friends, or my…Continue

Significant dates for the diary (some might say...) 41 Replies

McFloozy mentioned Quack Day in February and I had a message from Valentine Mark Hermann telling me of an anniversary in February. I figured that it would be best to put all the dates in one discussion, so anyone could contribute and we could all…Continue

Well, it happened. I was careless last week and opened a link, which had a virus attached to it. SO my entire gmail contact list got spam from me. Drats! Lots of damage control now.  If you are on my gmail and get mail from me, do not open the link. I"m sending no links to anyone. sorry.

I do the same i prefer to photograph the mail art i sent and received, and if necessary make some adjustments on a image-editing program.

I think that the delicate colours in watercolours photograph better than they scan. I've found that scans can bleach out certain hues. I think that collages scan well because of the reflective properties of the paper.

To deal with the problem, I often photograph my watercolours with a digital camera and crop the photos. GIMP is a good free/open source program for altering photos/images.

I think the scans with so much white don't work so well on my scanner because the lid of the scanner is white and the thing I am scanning gets lost in the lid. I try to scan white things with a piece of black or some other color covering the lid.

So, I just posted some watercolors and they look pretty bad in the scan compared with how they look on paper. Most of my work is collage from found objects and they look great when I scan and post them but why not the paintings?

Any ideas?

Haha! Welcome home Laura!

McFloozy, I'm looking longingly at your wall and just want to reach out and steal that piece from Merdoc Robotics! I shall post it up on my REAL wall shortly

Back from almost 2 weeks away from home. I had mail art withdrawal, it was not very satisfying viewing everyones posts from a phone screen. I had limited supplies so I mainly did Zentangles for my daily mail art. I will post and send them out over the next few days. While gone I collected local maps, magazines and other materials to use in new collages. My husband traveled to NYC and went to Chinatown and got me Chinese newspapers and comics. He was a sport, the lady selling to him asked you read Chinese?? He told her he just liked the pictures, he said that was easier than explaining mail art!
