Yes Schwitters' last Merz was made near Ambleside (I underatand) in the Lake District; and is now at Newcastle University if I'm not mistaken-- I'd love to visit it. I hadn't heard of the Porridge Installation before !
Funnily enough I have a book of Dieter Roth and am keen his assemblages and other work. Not so sure about the food though ! Food a common thread !!
