Three TLP (Tacky Little Pamphlet) Collabs by Jim Leftwich & John M. Bennett

TLP - 10.18.2015 - 1

TLP (Tacky Little Pamphlet) by IUOMA members Jim Leftwich (Roanoke, Virginia, USA) and John M. Bennett (Columbus, Ohio, USA)

October 18, 2015 - The mail art package Jim Leftwich sent me that contained the Trashemic Essays also included other vispo material including these three TLP collabs. I have been a proponent of the Tacky Little Pamphlet as a mail art form for some time. These collabs provide excellent examples. They reveal how easy it is to make a TLP, and they also show how the panels can be used effectively. (Click to enlarge.)

This classic TLP uses a single, folded sheet of paper that provides four panels.

Note the imprint of John M. Bennett’s Luna Bisonte Prods, which has been publishing breakthrough postavant work for many years.

I think these two pages (above) are especially FAB. Enlarge and have a closer look.

And a third TLP:

Many thanks to Jim Leftwich for sending these fantastic, classic TLPS for the archives. I am a longtime and very enthusiastic John M. Bennett fan as well, so these have great meaning to us.

Thanks, Fike, for the elucidation(?).

I find the third TLP most "interesting" (as Burroughs would say it). JMB seems to be appropriating bits of Jesus Jim's "Six Months Aint No Sentence."

If I had time, I would have dug into the origins much further. As it is, one of the scans is messed up so the trajectory is negative but at least "got 'er done." I end up apologizing.

So, again, thx for pointing out that one. Generally, all the Luna Bisonte stuff is tremendous & I am convinced will become increasingly recognized as "important" if the Trashpocalypse doesn't arrive & obliterate all.

Thank you, De Villo Sloan for exposing these treasures. I'm loving the 'in-y'r-face' inscrutability of some of the phraseology [4wantofabetterterm]

"six months ain't no sentence" and "six months" isn't a sentence either. One is an insult to the good citizenry of Bright Balls, MT, the other, a phrase.
