RECEIVED: Film Noir ATC (Artist Trading Card) from David Stafford (Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA)

Mail-art by IUOMA member David Stafford (Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA)

July 31, 2011 - Among many other talents, David Stafford is one of the ATC Rebels at the IUOMA. I have received a number of his beautifully designed and executed cards. The piece above is his tribute to the film noir classic The Big Sleep, based on Raymond Chandler's equally legendary novel of the same title. For those with literary interest, author William Faulkner worked on the screenplay for The Big Sleep when he worked in Hollywood during The Great Depression. The reverse side indicates this ATC is part of a series:

One of David's trademark sketches and his great red stamp. Many thanks for yet another great ATC, David!

The still is a portion of a photo from the original movie version of A Town Like Alice, the PBS version of which put Bryan Brown on the map in the early 80s. Alas, the older movie version is not available on Netflix. Thanks, DeVillo and Angie for your kind comments. (The fonts are maison and grand slam)
