This little packet sat on the table for 24 hours - an eternity - staring and tempting at each pass by.
A friend suggested that it NEVER be opened, 'it is perfect as it is'. I reached for the scissors and carefully cut open the edge without stitching. Diane, it is no surprise you are the reigning queen of trashpo. Here is a peek into this marvel. thanks.…

I have been reveling in the most wonderful stuff from Nadine Wendell. Most recently she sent me a piece of Trashpo that I just LOVED! Simply a piece of corrugated cardboard that has been altered with the most diverse of materials: print illustrations, ad cards, rafia wrapping, a safe sex brochure, paint, rubber stamping, Nadine's personal doodle-drawings, and a [found?] junior prom picture that Nadine craftily attached so that I could lift it up and see on the reverse what the young lady in…

This is one of the most exotic Trashpo pieces that I have received so far... and is it any wonder that it's from the Master of ceremonies, herself? Though I usually am overly verbose in my blog descriptions, I will let pictures of some of my favorite pages say all that is necessary about the creativeness of Diane Keys's piece:…

The book form has featured prevalently it seems among our artwork. I’ve tried writing to a few of you about the appeal of the book form… why it attracts us so much. Most recently in the Trashpo Group, there have been several of us who have explored that medium. I’m still a little hard pressed to explain fully the draw, but I am an admitted bibliophile… something about the familiarity of books, of how knowledge is contained in them… and even in that phrase—“contained knowledge”—there is…

If dropping six figures at the art supply store ain't your gig, consider joining the All Things Trashpo group here at IUOMA. If you got something deep and wide to say and no language on the planet can suffice, join Asemic Writing for Mail Artists. If you're one of those people who can't help but reach out and touch art, say a Van Gogh at an art museum because his brushstrokes are calling you, maybe you should join the Haptic Poetry group here. And if you have a penchant for disobeying…

August 14, 2010: Versatile artist Erni Bar finds inspiration for some of his work in the streets of Hamburg. The mailart he sent me, documented below, marks my first experience in what I think could fairly be considered trashpo:
As with all mailart, packaging must be considered carefully for practicality as well as aesthetics. So in this…
