Received from Nancy Bell Scott, USA--Brown Out in the Pine Tree State

Everyone knows I love maps--maybe it's because they're a 2D representation of a 3D place, maybe it's their subdued colors, but mostly it's because of what they symbolize--movement, the journey, the visuals of where we've come from, where we've been, where we have to go, where we want to go, where our lovers are, and maybe places to avoid no matter what. Nancy has given me a…

The Angel of Mercy from GuidoVermeulen

I am so glad to have one of Guido's pieces in my own hands.  My poor photo doesn't do justice to his work, but his technique has much more contrast and intricacies than I ever imagined.  The thing about angels is you never know what image or form they will transpire in one's life.  I have a special affinity for those forms of essence that can only be defined in art or in…

Received Fiber Art from Adamandia!

Adamandia Kapsalis sent me a REALLY great miniature crocheted and needlepoint masterpiece!

Great and amazing things about this piece:  I thought I had been working on a small scale with my postcard-size knit pieces... But Adamandia has taken this work…

From Nancy Bell Scott - Hint - The Other Side

I KNOW altered books - they're my 'thing' - Nancy could not have chosen a better medium to send me.  It is interesting that she imposed collages and asemic writing on pages of pre-written text, torn from their original moorings  - I mean -  this page is already written. It HAD meaning. It was an insular world, a concluded entity.

And Nancy changed its meaning, its…

Asemics 16 #3 In the mail and inspired to make more asemic writings!

Cheryl Penn's and DeVillo sloan's "Asemic16" projects...(all four editions) are well under way. I jumped in last minute, thinking that it was not possible earlier to commit to making 16 copies for the project while out away from the studio. But even under-the-olive-tree art can proceed. And due to their encouragement, I have now discovered a new "writing" expression. Me thinks…

Heart Matters, yes it does...from Lesley in South Africa

On beautiful ecological paper and envelope, Lesley creates an amazing tribute to Cheryl's theme: Heart Matters. And it is a reminder for me to make a series "of-the-heart" as well. Beautiful drawings accompany the print of the human heart. A masterpiece in subtle black-on-beige. Thank you so much, lesley. 'Tis a beauty! xx…

Lower right is also from Germany, from ArtTower...another amazing collage...with the blue Suez canal! Upper left looks like it comes from Hamburg, but it is a tribute to Erni from Bifidus, a wonderful collage! And lower left is…
