Mail-art by IUOMA member Diane Keys (Elgin, Illinois, USA)
June 29, 2011 - Diane Keys (DK) sent me a nice mail-art package covering the current grocery list craze, gender roles, and (above) a pic of some very appealing shoes,…

I was rather puzzled by this card when I opened my mailbox and had to actually ask David if he was sick and dying :-))
I was relieved to hear that all was well for him. After reading his message I thought that he had indeed sent it to the right person. Some people think about death much more often than others do. About the constant threat that is lying upon…

A new photoblog started at the occasion of a mail art workshop on June 4, 2011 at the Espace Wallonie in Brussels. While Bernd Reichert and Reed Altemus were at the artist book fair in Mainz, Germany, I participated at the collage mail art workshop proposed by Inez Oludé da Silva and Mario Villaggi. This workshop was one of the 5 that took place during the exhibition 50/50. Mario became 50 and invited 50…

I only found out very recently about Vaida's work and she has such a refined, elegant style. This piece with a page from Othello, beautiful stitching and ink stamps is a real goodie (and my first mail from Lithuania!). Thank you Vaida!

I had a gentle reminder from She Who Must Be Obeyed that I had not blogged her beautiful book yet. As it is not strictly Mail Art I had not thought to show it to you all in IUOMA, but as we have had some other Bones of Contention works here it is. I am so so honoured that the book was made specially for me, using some images from a collaborative book that Cheryl and I had done in 2009. The pages are made from another of Cheryl's books that she took apart and remade the paper. Using her…

Over the years I have sent my postcard artwork naked. It always bothered me that inkjet tracking marks would get put on the art side of the postcard. I wondered if putting the actual card on a larger surface would allow the card to escape the tracking depredations of the Post Office. :)
Checking out what dimensions were allowed and still remain the standard postage in price I made some test pieces and sent them off. From everyone who sent back a scan or photo of the card they…

John Bennett aka Onword John – a dab hand at words for sure! The visuals of Johns language use are well known to us all – the way he takes these unwilling critters and bends and shapes and remakes them to suit his own vocabulary - and the amazing thing? They happily bend to his will :-)
John sent a note with his work - I hope he does not mind me quoting:
Hi…
