Hi from a newbie

I just joined IUOMA.  Yesterday I was buying magazines at B&N and browsed around in the crafts section at origami books because I had a little time and am on summer vacation.  I found the book Good Mail Day: A Primer for Making Eye-Popping Postal Art which was published in  2009.  It is fun and inspiring, with samples and ideas that don't rely on a lot of "products."  I have been aware of mail art, and am old enough to have done it two or three decades ago, but it was not something… Continue

A Book of Ether, Chapters 1&2 - from Cheryl Penn

Ether is one of Cheryl's favorite words, and after meeting it several times in our conversations I became fascinated by the concept behind it. Ether is a word that is so multilayered that it is impossible to simply give one definition of it. This word needed a book! We started exchanging chapters for it, in an experimental "let's see where this goes" kind of…

2 great envelopes from Guido Vermeulen

The first painted  envelope with "Sweet Dream Buddie" arrived with a note saying that a larger one was on its way. Guido also has a very distinctive style, African yet South Oceanic symbolic work.

The second large envelope was rained on so a bit tattered at the edges with the paint smeared, but as Guido said it was a great collaboration with the Rain God..... Thanks for these Guido!…

As Free As A Thought from Karin Greenwood

Karen's distinctive characters with their naive quality never cease to please me. All her cards are painstakingly handdrawn, painted, or printed using so many different techniques, they are wonderful and I am always glad when her envelopes arrive in my postbox. Thanks my friend.…

A Sunset with Death - from David Stafford

I was rather puzzled by this card when I opened my mailbox and had to actually ask David if he was sick and dying :-))

I was relieved to hear that all was well for him. After reading his message I thought that he had indeed sent it to the right person. Some people think about death much more often than others do. About the constant threat that is lying upon…
