"As to your returned envelopes, Tabatha, here in the UK there is a limit to the thickness of them. 5 mm maximum, anything thicker is a packet. May be that is the problem."

Was the returned mail coming back from addresses you'd used recently? My impression is that mail only gets returned to the sender when they really can't deliver it - too big for the mail box, no mail box, etc. One of my grandfathers worked all his life in the UK mail service!

Also, you can usually tell if it's the mail service which has taken responsibility for returning it, or if there's someone new at that address, and that new person has returned the mail to you. What's written or marked on the envelope is different. Private individuals usually write things like 'return to sender' neatly, whereas mail service staff scrawl and draw lines quickly - and you can see the difference.

If the mail was above the size or weight for the postage you put on it, they normally first ask the recipient to pay the missing fee, and if they can't make contact to get that, can then turn the mail round back to you.

Earthling, this may be the last but certainly, it´s not the least welcome message to IUOMA you are going to receive. I’m a celestial mail artist living in a heavenly uncharted corner of the faraway universe called “Republik van Patland”. I would love to be the other end if you wish to trade mail art with a celestial mail artist.  If that is the case at the time your envelope should read as follows:

The Celestial Scribe
Terrene Embassy
Republik van Patland
Caixa Postal 461
Curitiba-PR
80011-970
Brazil

I look forward to seeing a piece of yours in my terrene mailbox. I´ll do my homework after receiving your artwork. This is nothing less than a celestial promise.  I’m Patricio, Celestial Scribe & Republik van Patland Official Envelope Provider.
