I got the back tires changed on our car. I asked the car mechanic if I could cut off part of the old tire to keep. He looked at me strangely and said that I was the first person to ever ask this question. I couldn’t think fast enough and blurred out; “It’s for my scrap book”. That sounded more respectable than telling him I was going to glue it on cardboard and send it half way around the world. He said; “go ahead, knock yourself out”, and rolled his eyes. I walked home and found the bow and a Paris parking card. What about the fork you ask? Well, I always carry a folding fork with me wherever I go. Doesn’t everyone? Fun facts: The phase; “A fork in the road” is quite international and is said nearly everywhere in the world except for China where they say chopstick. Also “Beware of car mechanic who speak with fork tongue” is international as well. But “Man who speak with chopstick”, is not said in China.
And in the end, this card only cost me about €160.00, but it is well worth it. Burn rubber Baby!

If you don't want to get tired, grab a fish (too slippery for chopsticks).
Too funny, Dean :D
Years later, I still like this one.
after all these years :-)
And Dean took the one less eaten on?
Bonsoir prettylily! No, sorry, I can't accept two French cats 'cos I have two already -- even though one is Persian and one is Siamese.
And I'm jealous, 'cos you weren't dreaming about MOI!
Yes, do please send photos of the cats.
Bestest Val,
PS sorry to hear about your toilet...you could always use the cat's tray, I suppose.
Thanks Dean & DK. I've got the picture & the message "don't sniff the glue"! Ha, ha, good one Dean. Mail from you is always welcome. My list is a long one too. Every now and then someone gets a surprise mailing.
Val,, would you accept two French Cats? Nah, I couldn't part with them. Maybe a photo of them? Technically though they are American, as they were birthed here in the US. Perhaps I clarify that lest you think their mom gave birth in the US so they could have dual citizenship. Guess I can't afford to bid. The economy is in the toilet.
Oh Dean, I had a dream about the Lady Statue - just the other night. Only it was much smaller than the one the French gave us. I must have been dreaming of Paris, eh?
hey prettylily! what am i offered for four much punctured french mountain bike inner tubes? they'd look good in your collection...and they speak french...or at laeast go 'uuuuuugh!' when they deflate.
regards, val 'uuuuuuuuuugh!'
Plilly-the best glue I have ever come across after years of experimenting is E6000. It is very strong. The only thing it doesn't work well on is metal. Dean, you have me so curious now!
I use a Néopène based glue. Not sure what it is in English. But be careful, sometimes it eats rubber. See what it did to my baby:
http://iuoma-network.ning.com/photo/rubberband-weaving?context=user
I also use Unibond by Henkel (brand name) Repair E X treme power glue (the X is in red, I don't know why, it just is)
Sometimes I mix different glues and smell the vapors, hence the new ideas! (just kidding) But that reminds me of a birthday card I once sent to my sister. I think I'll make a Mail Art version of it for you both. It's on the list; number 36 & 37, so it might be awhile.
I just noticed that the Statue of Liberty is on the map at the top. Did you see it? I just noticed it. Fun Facts: The original Statue of Liberty is of course here in Paris while the Super Big Size one is in America. Actually there are two in Paris, but not too many people know about the second one ... but I do. Small is good, and besides, it was a nice gift to America.
DK has raised a very good question. If you don't mind sharing your "secret of the glue", I will be a happy gal. I am currently trying to adhere small rubber bands to watercolor paper. They are sticking using a gel medium and a coating of gesso, but I don't think they are adhering well enough to travel naked. Care to share?
