The Socrates problem:
1) nego : we do not have a single verifiable word from Socrates. Plato’s dialogues are no more valid than Xenophan’s view of magical adept, or Aristophanes’ spoofs in regard to Socrates, which is completely in accord with steer thinking.
2) J.S. Mills claim—it is better to be an unhappy (dying) Socrates than a contented pig. When they send the steer to the slaughter house, Mill is doubly vindicated (hamburger not pork ribs)
3) Theory of the forms according to Socrates, are archetypes or abstract representations of the many types of things, including those missing gonads. That's typical steer thinking.
4) The Theory of Recollection explains that we possess some non-empirical knowledge (e.g. The Form of Equality) at birth, implying the soul existed before birth to carry that knowledge. For a Socratic steer, it is the destiny of perpetual fame as the portrait of a hamburger, a fate built into the steer's sense of impending death
5) Timothy Chappell (2010). Ethical Blind-Spots: Why Socrates Was Not a Cosmopolitan. Ratio 23 (1):17-33 demonstrates that Socrates was just another penned up animal wondering how he could best make a statement about becoming a hamburger martyr, rather than living an leading a vegetarian revolution.
6) The Man is the measure of all things, especially when it comes to sizing a cattle pen. As Socrates tells Theaetetus, things change relative to some mental standard, which is why it's hamburger pretty much eventually.
7) Socrates is not too keen on what we now refer to as modern science: no rooting around the cattle pen in search of an egress: just wait for the Hamburgerlock.
8) The Socratic method: there's lots of time for that in the feedlot. Others are there to query, without coming to much of a solution. But there's always the judgment of the community which seems determined about Hamburgerism.
