4th International Mail art: Wo+Men in R.E.D.

A year has passed since the TeeToTum art team and more than 22 women from different parts of the globe tried to approach the idea of crisis interpreting it on many levels. While we tried to explore the meaning of crisis and the reasons that may cause it, many ideas came to mind and mainly the realization that a crisis is not only economical or political but it can be social and personal as well. A crisis has many faces. It is the peak of a developing negative process and only by overcoming it, can life to return to a normal state. How painful can such a situation become? How much can it affect our daily lives without drifting us in its course? Where can it lead? The artist whose work was presented constituted examples of strength as each one of them had successfully overcome or was in the process of dealing with a crisis of some sort. They had not allowed a crisis to defeat them but instead they used it to expand their boundaries relying on their inner strength in a creative manner. Through their work they reflect on their lives, expressing creatively their turmoil, providing a voice for other people so they may also find relief in the realization of a common fate. The artworks were exhibited in two shows. The first one in Myro Gallery in Thessaloniki and the second in 512 Gallery in Ptolemaida and during the exhibitions several workshops were organized. The word “crisis” is still heard everywhere and it has become even more extensive for many more people. In the beginning of this project our goal was to investigate various aspects of a crisis from a female point of view. The male perspective can aid us in understanding the crisis situation better .For this reason we believe it will be interesting to return our project and invite both male and female artists to find ways and diminish the negative force and connotations of "crisis". Art is an excellent means of providing some balance and tranquility in our lives.

ADD & PASS, project Nº1

ADD & PASS is the First project associated with TILT Laboratory, in partnership with the COMA collective.

  TILT Laboratory aims with this project distributes a certain number of "Add & Pass" with a specific theme in which each participant can only use one “page” of it. Upon receipt all ADD & PASS or part of them  will be done an exhibition in the future installations of TILT Lab in Portugal.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE: please send a private message to TILT facebook pageor to tiltlaboratorio@gmail.com, showing your intention to participate, stating your full NAME, POSTAL ADDRESS and EMAIL. After doing this, we will guide you throughout the entire project.

TECHNIQUE: all techniques are allowed.

You are invited to participate in a Mail Art project entitled “Colour my world”. You can choose to use all the colours that you like in the same art work or to create works in which, only one colour prevails. According to the project, the colours could be combined with the months of the year but this is just a suggestion. What I want is organize an exhibition with all the colours. So you are free to choose the colour that represents you best. I will send you back mail art in the same colour.

An exhibition will be held in Epikentro+  Art Gallery, Patras – Greece.
