TREES

A group devoted to the art of trees: free medium. Without trees the world would be dead and a place of disaster. With trees the world can tackle global warming. Hug a tree and you hug the earth, you hug yourself and your neighbors. Without trees, no love!

Without love, no trees.

A sequel to the mail art project SIGNS and STONES and TREES (of 1998).

Guido Vermeulen started this group. After his death the IUOMA members keep it alive with posting photos and drawings of TREES in memory of Guido.

THE MAGIC OF TREES

Dear Guido,

I love trees!

Trees are so good to us, giving us oxygen to breathe, cleaning our water, providing shade in their life and shelter in their death.

They give us this paper, the pencil I write words with, and the envelope I painted.

Trees are magical, like all plants, magical little things that grow into magical big thins that are essential to so many of us other magical life forms in this amazing, magical universe.

TREES ARE MAGIC.

When I am with trees, big and small, I wonder like a child.

I know the scientific explanations of their life cycles and the processes of their doings.

I have even listened to trees as recorded by a hydrophone as their cells thirsted for water.

Still, no amount of knowledge can evaporate the mist of awe and wonder I feel in the presence of trees.

Trees are our kindred.

They, too, are born to live. And born to die.

In between they are silent witnesses to the magic of the universe.

Happy Earth Day,

These trees I pass every day when I go to College for the past 6 years. This is how they look in early spring before things start to grow......

What a great age to be!  Looks like a good time was had by all.  And, perfect celebratory pants!  What fun I'm having too, getting to see your birthday.

Mirroring trees--I will think about that until sleep comes. Pleasantly.

HOW BEAUTIFUL LIFE COULD BE IF WE ALL MIRRORED THE TREES

My 58th birthday present to all of you!

No image of trees needed here, but inspired somehow by watching and reading again the play about the 3 sisters (Anton Tchekov). So great! I discussed this for hours with CV, Jewish Sandinista neighbor who visited me on my b-day with her dog who is nuts about me but my cats do not share the same feeling!

Hi Theresa,

Was just working on a collage with 19th century graphics to give to L.

Called it DREAMING ABOUT TREES

Yeah, Lipit is part of a collective that works in an etching and sculpture place called KASBA, some of them are into mail art, but mail art on a personal base, so they have to know you, which make them quite different from networkers like me and others. But I like them anyway (most of them are femail, but I suppose you guessed that from the art photos)>

They are opening their workspace between March 14 and 25 and Lipit intends to give away her wood sculptures to visitors!

In this sense, she is all mail art in my books.....................

and goes further in her approach than some networkers I know

Opening is on March 14 and I will try to attend this event!
