THE ONE THOUSAND PEACE CRANE GOAL HAS BEEN REACHED AS OF 1/6/12. (PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY MORE PEACE CRANES.)

Thank you to everyone who made peace cranes!

There's a story told in Japan that if you make a thousand origami Peace Cranes, you or someone you love will be healed. This group is for those who wish to make an origami Peace Crane which will then be sent to the Hiroshima Peace Museum.

Great News for everyone who has participated in this amazing project! Today I finished counting all the strings of peace cranes - the total that all of you have made as of today is 720!!!!  Fantastic, and it means we need just 280 more to reach our 1,000.  Here's the good news ... we have 39 members in this group. If people are still actively involved here that means we only need each member to make 8 cranes each!

I'm hoping that each of you will consider making 8 more.  Please consider doing so. Thanks to everyone who has been involved - it's amazing that we have so many cranes and that we have so few left to make.

A belated update -- a busy Holiday season has kept me away from the site. Since the last time I posted a note here, MANY MANY cranes have been sent. The local library had a second successful day of making and stringing peace cranes. I'm hoping that I can count all of the strings that are done before the Christmas holiday. I should be able to let everyone know this Wed. (12-7) how many have been made to this point. Until then, I thank everyone for their efforts and encourage people to continue (or start) making cranes if they choose to do so!

Yesterday I received a peace crane without a return address, but the postmark was "Kokomo, IN".  Whoever sent it, thank you!!  Message me if you want to let me know who you are.

Re McFloozy - I think the best thing was watching the kids string all of the peace cranes that people in this IUOMA group made ... cranes came from so many different places around the world and the kids were fascinated by all the different papers, textures, etc.
