I just joined and got my first person to post to. He explictly states nothing hand-made -so that makes life easier after-all !
I'll just look out for and buy a nice post card tomorrow !

Sounds fun

I like the thought of the international dimension a lot ....

I think notion of "postcrossing" and fluxus part of "mail art" would be slightly different? I was mail art in my flickr and someone mailed me and asked me if I wanted to exchange written letter or mail art that has an art. I would prefer exchange collaged postcard with artists, and my purpose to get inspired from them, and also networking with other artists around the world, but it seems like little different here. ??

i disagree andy...
I go through each postcrossing profile & their favorites very throughly...
I then create something that is much more personal & much closer to what they like and request...

It is the ultimate personal correspondence & if you are conforming to the standard postcard size - it "technically" is a postcard...

PostMuse - I love the camel card!!!

For me postcrossing is more about connection with an unknown person, and reading through the profile is important I think. It's important to try and fulfill their request first and foremost as htis is what will most likely make them happy.

I think that's why I prefer the mailart scene personally - it's more freeform and I guess you can express yourself more knowing that you are in the company of people of a like mind

This is my all-time favorite handmade postcard sent via Postcrossing. It was drawn by a 9 year old Russian boy, especially for me.

i don't know - i build cards according to the profile...
I also hand laminate every work of art with packing tape or by hot lamination...

this protects the art work but also makes it impervious to the elements...

As I stated, no one has ever refused to register. Ever. I would complain if that was an issue.

I've only noticed that my homemade are more likely to not get registered. It could be because the recipient is refusing, but it could also be that the card got too damaged along the way and couldn't be delivered, or simply lost in the mail. I just don't send handmade without knowing the recipient will appreciate it. I think it's cool that some want to take the chance and do the whole immersion thing, but I am not as guerilla as they. I'm just looking to connect with folk and if it means sending a commercial postcard to make that connection, that's fine by me.

You can also register a complaint against the user if they refuse to register...
