Even though it makes sense that we can look on each others profiles, you may want to add your address here and any blogs or other accounts you want highlighted. This way it's in a closed environment and we all get to share.

What's your default? 7 Replies

Because my friend Matt asked me this the other night, I had to think about it. His is painting a blue sky and some clouds, then he waits to see if anything more comes. His skull for Skull Appreciation Day was just the blue sky & clouds cause…Continue

Who will you send  your first piece of mail to? I've been thinking about this a lot. Will it be someone in this group? Will it be one of the many mail artists I've exchanged MA with over the years? Will it be one of my letter writing friends, or my…Continue

Significant dates for the diary (some might say...) 41 Replies

McFloozy mentioned Quack Day in February and I had a message from Valentine Mark Hermann telling me of an anniversary in February. I figured that it would be best to put all the dates in one discussion, so anyone could contribute and we could all…Continue

That thumbnail template is great but...Doesn't quite work properly yet. Will be trying to iron out the problems and will put it in soon I hope. Camel, any assistance on this template will be much appreciated

I realise that new posts will push down posts from ealier that day. I'm currently testing out a new template at http://rualstestsite.blogspot.com/

It can show only a single days posts on the front page. Obviously, once it's installed, I'll pimp to requirements.

Haha! yeah I thought there was something comforting about seeing everyone elses art drawers, but couldn't put my finger on it. I think it's a mailart thing that we've all got a drawer of rubber stamps too right?

You know something really love about seeing everybodys supplies is that even though we're half a world away we seem to still have all the same things. Don't we all own a pair of scissors exactly like Katerina's orange ones and the same gluesticks and highlighters? Another way art brings us together.

This just arrived in my mail box. How appropriate for the day before our big day.

I've done the Spanish classic in class of saying I'm "embarasada". Which doesn't mean "embarrassed" but means "pregnant". Doh.

Strangely I've never made any linguistic or cultural mistakes in mailart that I've sent. Or at least not that anyone has ever told me

Oh, the biggest Brit faux pas I ever made was when I told a Year 7 boy to "Toss is in the trash". The look on his face was priceless!

Or there was the time that I was telling a class off and counting off the problems on my fingers when all of a sudden they all started laughing. That's when I learnt that you have to be careful which direction your hand is facing when you count to two on your fingers. I had inadvertently just flashed the class the symbol for F!$@ you.

Working in reverse, into Canadian English, I had to explain to my students (explicitly) that when they asked me for a rubber they needed to say eraser, because otherwise to my Canadian ears they were asking for a condom.
