Oh what a lovely world we are living in, snow... serious snow by Judy, economic problems with Kate's country and invasive bankers beetles threatening the whole world... let's see if we can come up with a solution... Australia is short of water, Judy stuff all that excess snow in a container send it to Melborne, in exchange the Aussies should send their excess rabbits to feed the Greeks, the Greeks should send their... ah a week point in my deliberations... Kate does Greece have a surfeit of beetle loving lizards?... No, I'm no good at this, I think I'll go back to making art and searching the net for eye witness accounts of Viking diplomacy.

Hi Tom, more snow coming Monday but then the temps are going up so we will see what happens, if it gets too warm to fast we will have a lot of flooding as our storm drains are all full of snow. We need long cold to protect against certain invasive beetles that are destroying the forests, I hope that happens.

Judy, I know - our weather has been erratic up here - several summers we had long droughts with the resultant forest and bog fires. My neighbor who usually complains about winter is worried because we haven't had our usual snow and expects us to get nailed in March. Which could happen because Lake Superior hasn't frozen over and it is our snow machine when the weather is normal. Loss of power is a major concern in cities - and here too. Blower on the furnace wouldn't work. I've been thinking about getting a wood burning stove for backup if our power would go. Wood is not a problem here. I hope this is your last storm.

Hi again Tom, We do have extensive tree damage due to large older trees and the collapse on power lines and wind has caused extensive power outtages and I am grateful I escaped that.

Hi Tom, this is defititely what they call global warmings with change of air massas and moisture. Ours came off the Atlantic from the south and collided over us with your arctic air. We get this usually in summer. We are and have been a mess since the first 17-28" in Dec. The Fed. Gov't has been closed all week and at least I got to work because the trains are running underground. Nothing above ground but plows and they were called off yesterday because of high wind. Kids will have to make upschool days in the summer.

Hope you keep your power. A friend in the Baltimore area is enjoying what looks like a 6 day weekend. She went to college up here so is use to the weather and has been prepared. I know when we lived in the Detroit area 6 inches of snow would paralyze the metro area.

El Nino from the Pacific off California. The storms make banging noises here too.

Judy, I've been watching these storms and thinking, "Hey, that's suppose to be our snow." And I know the havoc it causes you is far greater than had it been here. Hopefully you won't get any more of these this year. We've been cold, but not snowy for several weeks now. So what we have is still here, but, settled down. Be safe.
