Hi. I am an independent archivist. I keep and care for almost everything I receive. I would love to include anything you have that you feel is appropriate to donate. Here are some details so that you can make the right decision for your material:

The case against: practically speaking, I am just a guy. I dont have any agreements with any library or institution to accept my archive. The fate of this archive when I die (I am 51) is uncertain.

The case for: I have been collecting books, ephemera and mail art for a long time. I know how to store paper and other materials so that they last over the long term. Also, this archive is a key aspect of my life's work. I take it very seriously. It is my intent to create an archive that a library or other appropriate entity will accept happily.

I recommend that, if you are interested, you use me as a last resort. If you have material that you struggle to find a home for but still believe should be saved, absolutely send them to me. I have an affection for underappreciated and overlooked items.

Thanks for your time. Best wishes - zeno izen aka matthew carey - pnw usa

i'm not really in the right loop to know, but i don't recall hearing of any place specifically archiving ATCs. though i suspect there are ATCs archived as part of a larger mail art archive that has been donated to a university etc.

Hello ALL ATC rebels and non-rebels, I've recently returned to making and sending out ATCs prompted by my showing a friend my collection ,in 3 ring binders and a tin and many small boxes, of ATCs. Many are from students of mine from the earlyl 2000s when I used making ATCs as a way of getting freshman art students to be less precious with their work. NOW a serious question- Has anyone taken on the task of archiving ATCs? I don't want mine to hit a trash bin when our kids finally empty out my studio. Okay so yes, I'm old and think about stuff like this. SO, anyone? Any ideas. The one I thought of last night as I drifted off to sleep was to call special collections at the universty I taught in, which already took two boxes of mail art from me a few years ago AND my Anna Banana file last year.  Anyone? Ideas? An Archivist?
