Collective book of mail art.

Send 18 works of size 14.8 X 21 cm (A5 vertical), numbered and signed,
for making up a series of volumes with different artists in each. Each
volume will contain a minimum of 14 artworks, one per artist. Modify
each copy in order to make them unique originals. All techniques:
printings, drawings, paintings, photographs, collages...

Each participant will receive a volume.

Deadline: october, 2010.

Seitdem Bismarck die politische Szene betreten hat, begnügen sich die Karikaturisten damit, den preußischen Kanzler wie eine Dogge darzustellen, während Daumier ihn als "preußischen Blaubart" zeigt, der sich darum bemüht, die Parlamentskammern abzuschaffen.
In Épinal widmet Charles Pinot, Gründer der Nouvelle Imagerie d'Épinal und geschickter Zeichner, Bismarck ein paar Bilderbögen, von denen einige während der deutschen Besetzung zerstört werden und schafft einen wahrhaftigen deutschlandfeindlichen Bilderschatz, der nichts mit den naiven oder religiösen Bilderbögen zu tun hat, die den herkömmlichen Fundus der Imagerie von Épinal bilden. Pinots Karikaturen inszenieren mittels Übertreibung sämtliche Attribute der preußischen Nation und ihres blutrünstigen Vertreters: Kennzeichend sind der riesige Spitzhelm als feinliches Symbol, die fallenden Schnurbartspitzen und der Säbel, der an das Leitmotiv von Kanzler Bismarck erinnert, welcher entschlossen war, Preußens Größe, wenn es sein musste, "mit Eisen und Blut" zu entfallten. In seiner einwandfreien Uniform und seinen blitzblanken Stiefeln ähnelt Bismarck einer Bleifigur. Und um ihn vollends lächerlich zu machen, wird er ironischerweise mit einem riesigen Besen und einer enormen Schaufel "bewaffnet" dargestellt, mit denen er unerwünschte Staaten und Städte des Deutschen Bundes wegkehrt.
