Mail art by IUOMA member Richard Canard (Carbondale, Illinois, USA)
December 1, 2015 - In this (relatively) recent work received, faithful correspondent Richard Canard has returned to a type of work that has made him an idol among the trashpoets and DKulters. The trash bag box is, I think, a brilliant choice of imagery to add to the myriad cereal and frozen dinner boxes that define his found, Popart-based approach to Trashpo. No wonder they call him Litter Richard.
Elbert Hubbard is a very interesting character, should any diligent IUOMAns aspire to a bit of research. I am also happy to be able to include two other pieces by Richard Carnard. These are more literary and conceptual compared to the Trashpo:
Is this concrete poetry? Probably not, although I am sure there is an equally qualified person who would argue passionately that it is. But I can assure you it is not asemic, which seems to be the burning issue these days.
Thanks as ever to Richard Canard.
