The Colour of Mail Art, Rebecca Guyver and Top of the City, E.Coles

Rebecca's fabulous book (above) is about sharing. The pages consist of small collages inspired by other mail artists, in color and movement.

"Mail art from people I've never met. Alien art from places I've never been. I've been eating envelopes, growing landscapes, taking a brush for a walk in other people's palettes."  (Rebecca Guyver)

Emily's book is an accordion book, full of wonderful mark making and a poem. Reminds me of the top of the city.

"Tell me what that building is: The one that skims the leaden sky. The one that soars above the rest. Where falcons perch poised to fly. Steel and class shine through. The grey, stultifying gloom. City workers dine, before they catch that flight into the endless night."

Thanks so much to both of you!

Thanks for blogging this Carina!

Rebecca, I'd love to hear more about your use of plastic in collages. I am always looking for a way to use up the tons of plastic that seem to pass through my house in the form of food packaging, etc. Which glue do you use to get the plastic to stick? Can you use molded pieces if you squash them first? Any information would be most welcome.

Yes I think the books look great together, and both made in UK! I really like the feeling of animation in your small collages, and the abstract together with the titles. Beautifully done.

Wow fabulous to see them both together!  So glad it reached you.  I still haven't opened yours… hopefully today.  I have taken my studio apart and have nearly put it back together and I need time to languish over my mail art.  Can't wait. Thank you in advance!
