Erica Durante Pursues Asemic Art (Waldwick, New Jersey, USA)

Erica - 6.6.2015 - 1

Mail art by IUOMA member Erica Durante (Waldwick, New Jersey, USA)

June 6, 2015 - I received this wonderful card from Erica Durante upon which she is further developing her very original asemic style. She has integrated some images, colors and shapes into the work making a visual-textual syntax. Her asemics definitely tend toward the visual arts side of the equation; and based on this case, I can understand why some writers prefer the term asemic art to asemic writing. What is particularly interesting about this piece by Erica Durante is that it invokes automatic writing and was probably, at least partially, generated using that method.

As ever, many thanks to Eric Durante for her correspondence.
