When I send mail art, I never how the postal service will handle it. Sometimes the recipient gets it with a postmark across the image. I like when this happens, I feel it authenticates the piece as mail art.…

Okay, I don't know how Richard Canard keeps his files, but it's apparently 'very well'.
He mailed an envelope to me which was originally mailed to him from Minneapolis in 1985! The proof is in the cancellation stamp from the post office. Originally sent from somewhere called "The Raven Gallery" in Minneapolis, Richard has returned it to…

I exchanged thylacine art with a man I met at FB. I sent him one of my hand carved stamp postcards and he sent me this.
Of course, looking at it, one falls immediately in love with the thylacine. I wanted to get the art out and touch it and hold it. I wanted to turn it over and see the back. I wanted to use it as a book mark or frame…

It is still a week away but I am ready for the rats to be gone and for the ox to rush in and take charge. To celebrate I am mailing postcards with hand carved rubber stamps — the Ox vs. Covid-19. Happy New Year!

I got this envelope from Finn Badger today. Check out the clock, the spokes coming out from it might be the word "February" in a bajillion different languages!
Unfortunately it specifically states on the back not to open it until Leap Year Day. Luckily,…

It's the 60th anniversary of the Red Fire Monkey Year, the year my brother (and fellow artist) Tom Atkins was born. I want to share my love of mail art and mail artists with him this year and, so, I'm sending out a mail art call on this theme. It will be a year long event starting now and ending at the end of January 2017.
As some of you know,…

Thank you to everyone who has sent me mail art this year. It is very much appreciated. I really enjoy getting mail from so many people who live all over the world. One of the wonderful things about the internet is the opportunity to make new friends from everywhere on the globe! In the past few weeks, I have received more mail art and it has been difficult to find the time during this holiday season to get your work posted. I promise that I will do so as soon as I can.
Thank you…

Yes Yes Yes, Katerina did it, and alas, I failed. A leap year card post dated the 29th of February 2012. Spot on Katerina. Some when wrong with mine and they were all post dated 1 March. Bravo I say, and I'll have to wait another 4 years before my turn comes around.
A very rare card indeed from Katerina, but I'll be more on the ball the next time around ...…

As some of you know, I sing and write music as well as make mail art. I've noticed lately that I often respond to questions with song lyrics! Does anyone else do that? I don't do it on purpose, it's just that there seem to be song lyrics to fit any and all occasions!
My grandmother once told me that she was going to stop speaking in anything but aphorisms since they could cover anything she wanted to say and I'm starting to understand her.
Anyway, it's…
