A postcard of geometries (geometry was my favorite math class) and one of my favorite colors. Sweet! Thanks AWJ!

Tanuki Mail Think Pink Postage Stamp

Postage stamp with a photo I took last month in a shrine on Enoshima Island.
"Ema" are small wooden tablets on which people can write a wish and hang them up on the premises of the shrine.

Received: Post-feminist mail art from Jen Staggs (Dallas, Texas, USA)

September 17, 2010 - I personally appreciate Jen Stagg's mail art as much as her photos, especially shots from New Orleans I've seen elsewhere. I like receiving work from IUOMA friends that incorporates fabric, sewing, and weaving. In previous blog posts I've thanked Mariska van den Heuvel (Holland - sewn paper) and Tina Festa (Italy - woven… Continue

From South Africa....Cheryl Penn's Art

I've been looking forward to getting mail from Cheryl. She sent me a note with the piece but I very often can't read cursive so you guys can have at it, I love pieces with fiber a lot. always have. That's probably why I put cords on many of my own works.Cheryl's piece is about Pollack and IS wonderful!

Received: "Rosso Sangue" mail art from Ander Morlando (Napoli, Italy)

September 16, 2010 - From the first time I saw his mail art at the IUOMA a few months ago, I wanted to be Ander Morlando's friend. I like the clarity, vibrant color, and his mastery of technology to make art (which is better seen in his IUOMA portfolio). I've also been intrigued by the ideas Ander must have that inform his work. I especially like and ponder about his "Simbolicus erratus" series. In the piece he sent…

Received from Karen Champlin, USA--another masterpiece from Art Nation

Thanks much and thanks for acknowledging my penchant for hardware--love the key (and I do not take lightly the responsibility that comes with having the key in my possession). There are a couple of things that come to mind about a key: turn it one way and it locks something up, turn it the other way and it sets something free; a lock doesn't work without a key, and a key has no relevance without a lock. At any rate, great…

Pens, Swords, Envelopes and Emails...A Thought for Today*

IF 'The pen is mightier than the sword' (Edward Bulwer-Lytton, Richelieu: Or the Conspiracy, 1839),

221 Pachinko Parlor Psychology 222 A Pickle a Day - for Grigori Antonin

Postcard with a photo and article from an old magazine. It pictures a hypnosis experiment (presumably in the 60's) on kids that don't like certain types of food. At least one of the boys doesn't seem to fall into it, LOL.

I added an extract from the table of contents cut out from an old guide book about Japan. I'll be cutting out random phrases from that book for most of my future postcards because most of them are quite… Continue

Received: Larned Justin's mail art meets Main Street (Missouri, USA)

September 12, 2010 - Larned Justin's mail art arrived, along with other pieces by Bifidus Jones (Minnesota) and Jen Staggs (Texas). In this artwork (above), Larned uses a phtoto of the classic U.S. small town upon which to overlay complementary images creating, for me, an overall vintage and ghostly impression. I had seen Larned's work at the IUOMA but until now never looked at it closely. He definitely has a…
