From Diane Keys - Its a Wrap

Diane sent this very well made card - proof -  it journeyed  unscathed through the post. A feat in itself! Sandwiched between two cards is flimsy plastic - Diane's continual nod to TrashPo. Echoing the work of Marie Wintzer (I think Diane?) , the front is carefully stitched in color coded cotton. There is  slight mutilation to the black painted board where the stitches enter and leave. A memory mark.  Its a FAB for sure - thank you Diane :-) X …

To Mère Ubu from Le Grigstaire

Stunning Prana Piece from Helder Coelho Dias

I was so excited to receive this piece from Helder's new series. It is so fluid and sensuous, with the weaving and everything interlaced. I really love it and what wasn't obvious to me at first, is that he used the outline of the piece on the front of the envelope.… Continue

Cheryl Penn How Text Lies from South Africa

Cheryl Penn communicates in a mysterious way, perhaps asking the viewer of her image to "read" it based on the knowledge background he/she brings to it. Combining torn text, a photo of text, sewing in red zig zag lines, she stamps the message: How Text Lies.

Overall her work is engaging, complex, and challenging. The work I show here came in a brightly painted envelop with Ruud Janssen's "zalop" on it. In addition, Cheryl treated me to an entire string of South African fish stamps…

Rose McGuinn of Plush Possum Studio's Work on Paper

Hallelujah for exciting artists like Rose McGuinn who carefully assembles an art book from varied pieces of paper that have been painted, cut and trimmed in exciting ways and hand sewn together. What is her message? Is it intuitive? Is it beauty that asks to be touched and read for what it is? Thanks Rose!…
