Why I am involved in Mail-Art:
The mailart is the culmination of several hobbies that I have had for several years, since I have been painting and photographing, I have been collecting all kinds of postcards and objects sent by mail for many years.
I always make my own postcards with paintings, collages and other techniques, all without knowing MailArt, now that I have discovered this world I am much more involved, lately I have been doing work to share and I increasingly like this form of art.

Mail art project “ MailTrainArt”

For almost two centuries the train was much more than a means of transport traveling between books, music, pictures, films and utopias. It was the industrial revolution that put the train on the tracks.

The steam engine and the need to transport more and more cargo and people took the creation of the first train in 1825. In Portugal the train would arrive thirty years later with the connection between Lisbon and Carregado.

The train is also an important element of the culture of the industrial world, even appearing as a centerpiece in the futuristic manifesto published in 1909. The locomotive is the symbol of the path to the future.

In literature we can find the train on the pages of Georges Simenon, Aghata Christie or Eça de Queiroz, among others. In the music of Zeca Afonso, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington or Bob Dylan you can also hear the rhythms of the train.

The train is also a centerpiece in many films, so much so that one of the first films shown by the Lumière brothers showed the arrival of one of them at a station. They are proof that the train can travel far beyond its rails ...

Now i want the train enter in MailArt

thank you for the surprise in my tiny envelope, it is wonderful tactile and the Braille dots are so fun when combined with the “DO NOT TOUCH” at the top! The envelope arrived safely, with the “free matter” honored internationally from Portugal. Thanks again!

Hi Paulo,

Yes, you are quite right--the incomplete art is an add and pass, as are the Dada Dollars. If you wish, you may add anything to them and pass them along to whomever you want to share them with. The Hilgart Receptive is for you, and is part of a log (current at the time) of every piece of mail art I received; I am no longer creating new editions of Hilgart Receptive. Feel free to keep it, or to treat it as an add, alter, pass piece--whatever you think is best.

Hope you enjoy them!

Tom

hello paulo,

yes. it is the value of social art activities to push creative works on another level. it is kind of swarm entelligence. i like your creative manipulation a lot. it is up to predrag to confirm if this was his motivation, to create this movement of the mission of dadaland to open creative doors for each of us. for sure it was my idea joining predrags group and to spread the easter eggs. Interestingly, your post is a clear indication of the power of Mail Art in these special times when communication between people is becoming increasingly difficult. Just as Mail Art was also an opportunity in its early days to exchange relevant, critical information between committed creative people, it also appears to be an adequate platform for the dissemination of the individual artistic message. Swarm intelligence then means that some of these messages are carried further than others. Your works have inspired me again and I thank you for that by carrying the associated messages. The actual added value is realized over time in the group, it goes far beyond the feelings of the emitter.
