Comment by Mail Art Martha on November 24, 2015 at 6:41pm: It is the machines they use now, but I cannot understand why, it is such a clean cut , it is not like the letter got scrunched up . The plastic envelope in which they put it says that you can claim damages but you need to show them the letter. If you like I can send it back to you, no problem.

Also machines cannot read addresses unless they are extremely clear, I find . Here in backward Europe the post office people manage to guess correctly. I recently sent a card to a friend in France and I got the address quite wrong, not understanding my friend's handwriting and it did arrive in time for her birthday.

Comment by Erin Young on November 21, 2015 at 7:41pm: So glad it arrived. Strange that it was damaged like that. I received a postcard that tore in half like that. Don't know what happened to the other piece. The half with the return address was lost.
