Why I am involved in Mail-Art:
because I love the whole idea: the size of it, that you can send it to a special friend, the immediacy of it, that I am prepurposing images from various print media, that I am contributing to the vast pool of art throughout history, me & Juan Gris hangin' out!

Elizabeth, this is the last but probably not the least welcome message to IUOMA you receive. I’m a celestial mail artist living in a heavenly corner of the faraway universe called Republik van Patland. When you joined IUOMA on June 8, I was unable to welcome you on board.  At the time I was in a celestial journey far beyond the Milky Way. Now, back to planet Earth, I´d love to be the other end when you decide it’s the right time to start trading snail mail art. If this is the case at the time your envelope should read as follows:

The Celestial Scribe

Terrene Embassy

The Celestial Republik van Patland

Caixa Postal 24827

Curitiba-PR

80510-970

Brazil

II look forward to see a piece of yours in my terrene mailbox. I will do my homework after receiving yours. This is a celestial promise. I’m Patricio, Celestial Scribe & Republik van Patland official envelope provider.

Dear Elizabeth...and Juan Gris, too,

Welcome to IUOMA!

It's a great bunch of folks and I hope that you enjoy exchanging Mail Art with us. I'm your Mentor, and if I can help to ease you into IUOMA in any way, then please don't hesitate to ask and I'll try to explain what's going on and how IUOMA works.

If you haven't already done so, I suggest you take a look at the 'New to IOUMA' page (4th from the left at the top of the IUOMA home page) where you'll find a 10-point Introductory Guide that should give you an insight as to what is going on.

Would you like to exchange some Mail Art with me? If so, send me something to 1 Rue de la Vieille Fontaine, F-11130 Sigean, France, and I PROMISE to send you something back.

BUT you're going to have to let me know what your snail-mail postal address is. And the rest of the IUOMA gang will need to know it too. In fact, you ain't going to get much Mail Art (except, perhaps, from Juan) if you don't make your address readily available. It's too much of a hassle for people to ask you for your address, wait for your reply and then send you something. Mail Art, & IUOMA, thrives on simplicity.

Hoping you enjoy your IUOMA days.

Regards, Val Herman
