The huge Anacortes-Republik van Patland geographical gap has been bridged handsomely. Great job! Now, it´s homework time for this scribe. Some earthlings call it "time to enliven and enlighten".

Omg I am so sorry to hear that you got so sick! I hope you are on the way to recovery now. It sounds like you are. It's the time of the year when we get sick.... I also lost my voice for three days this past week :-(

I haven't heard the sound of joya no kane for ages but just by listening to your bell ringing tradition it brought back the memories of it from every New Year's Eve in Japan. I like it how it was so calming just before the time changed to another year. What a joy of the tradition you are leading.

I admire your commitment on 365 ....are you thinking about restarting in the new year? Likewise I really enjoyed looking at your work.

Wishing you a happy happy new year!

Hi Jan, Bathtub made it around the world, I got him back in March of 2018...though not for long, he was a good boy for a year, but now he is talking about flying (at least not sailing) to S.America for an 8 month walk, Chile to Ecuador. The only reason we have stayed together for 20 years, I think, is that we are so often not together at all. :) Reunions take on the thrill and excitement of new relationships because I forget, between one moment and the next, what he looks like, so it feels like a different guy each time. Or you could say I feel like I'm cheating on my husband with my husband...

  • MaoMao

Definitely the stitching was just to fill the hours at sea when there was no wind to drive the boat I doubt he'll be stitching the next time he goes. It was a brief, torrid affair with the needle, which hobby I can finally reclaim, now that I don't have to share my DMC cotton floss and precious embroidery hoops with a bearded old salt of the sea. :)

Thank you for adding me! I look forward to receiving whatever orange you send my way. I visited Anacortes once. Lovely little part of the world. I was there when the lavender wasn't blooming, alas, but I did get to the Hoh rainforest and about died from awe.

Hi Jan, thanks for another great contribution to Asemic Front; I've documented it. I'll post pics on the IUOMA-Ning site but won't re-post blogs anymore due to the excessive technical difficulties w/ Ning. I hope you continue as a contributor to AF2. Regards, DVS
