NASA is calling all space enthusiasts to send their artistic endeavors on a journey aboard NASA’s Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, Security-Regolith Explorer (OSIRIS-REx) spacecraft. This will be the first U.S. mission to collect a sample of an asteroid and return it to Earth for study. Send Your Artwork on a Journey to the Stars http://www.asteroidmission.org/WeTheExplorers/ deadline march 20th = you can send your artistamps (or anything) on this mission – a REAL mission not an art conceptual project. Only one file/submission per each person.
Also send a print copy of your artistamp submission to GLPost Artistamp Museum . If enough artistamps about this mission come into the GLPost Artistamp Museum I’ll create a special section for them to be housed in the museum.
Love y'r stamps and they raise a question in my mind. When does an artistamp stray into the counterfeit classification. Meanwhile... I'll google this one.
My first attempt at artistamps using rubber(or eraser as the case is here) stamps.
Fike, seems that counterfeit would imply that the stamp is trying to pass itself off as a stamp that already exists. Artistamps seem to be less about imitation and more about pushing the envelope or just play.
Hmmmm, William M, I guess what I was driving toward was a legal definition of counterfeit stamp so's I c'd avoid lawbreaking while committing japery.
I imagine that illegal stamps would be those which were created in an attempt to avoid paying to use the postal system. -- or -- perhaps one w'd actually be required to try to pass them off as postage to be breaking the law.
I think as long as it's not obviously trying to be used to as legal postage there's not an issue. I'm pretty sure this issue is discussed in John Held Jr.'s book on artistamps, but I can't recall exactly what was said in it. I know there have been artists who have sent work via the mail with only artistamps to see if the post office would notice.
Thanks Jan! They are all hand stamped. I brayered the watered down red sumi ink as background last night and then this afternoon I got the black sumi ink out and hand stamped the sheet.
A while back, some wonderful artist sent me a little package of 4 artistamps. I failed to keep track of the artist who sent them, and I'd really like to know. They have the word "Triangle" on them and one says "30 Years of using my swallow rubberstamp" -- they're really well done.
Thanks Tiziana! for the note about Carl Chew -- at first I was confused--I though you were referring to the U.S. postal Service stamps that are coming out. Now I see you were saying my artistamps were by him. Fantastic!

Hi everyone!
My first artistamp sheet!. It conmemorates the release of three new songs by my rock band, Bigote Ballena.
The image you can see in the artistamp is our mini Ep,s cover.
The graphic design has been developed by Gonzalo Azores and me, in Tos Estudio, Madrid.
If anyone interested in receiving one of this unique artistamps, just send me a message. It won´t be the only stuff you´ll receive.
And the most curious can listen to our songs for free in the next link:

Best regards from Madrid

To all artistamp persons.
I guess this question is a "concept" question.
What is the dividing line between artistamps and counterfeit postage?
For those of us who love to indulge in japery, this is an important issue.
