Even though it makes sense that we can look on each others profiles, you may want to add your address here and any blogs or other accounts you want highlighted. This way it's in a closed environment and we all get to share.

What's your default? 7 Replies

Because my friend Matt asked me this the other night, I had to think about it. His is painting a blue sky and some clouds, then he waits to see if anything more comes. His skull for Skull Appreciation Day was just the blue sky & clouds cause…Continue

Who will you send  your first piece of mail to? I've been thinking about this a lot. Will it be someone in this group? Will it be one of the many mail artists I've exchanged MA with over the years? Will it be one of my letter writing friends, or my…Continue

Significant dates for the diary (some might say...) 41 Replies

McFloozy mentioned Quack Day in February and I had a message from Valentine Mark Hermann telling me of an anniversary in February. I figured that it would be best to put all the dates in one discussion, so anyone could contribute and we could all…Continue

I agree with psmith--I gave up Postcrossing too. Wasn't satisfying like IUOMA!

Ditto on the cow piece, Mim, it's lovely! I pretty much gave up on Postcrossing. Cards got registered, but very few people responded in any verbal way. Just wasn't a satisfying experience. I like IUOMA & MailArt 365 because we have the opportunity to give our friends immediate positive feedback.

And, Mim, forgot to say that I love your cow piece.

Good answers both McFloozy & Boo. I would have trouble in Finnish and a lot of other languages! (smiling)

Good answer, Mim. I think some people are just busier than others or less organized or more confused. I do not believe your art was the problem.

Sometimes they don't make a comment. Well, at least they registered it. Sometimes the recipient may  be not-so-fluent in English. I mean, I wouldn't make a comment if I had to make the comment in Finnish!

I know how you feel, Andy. I have that often with Postcrossing and other mailings. Why just today I was wondering why someone hadn't said whether or not they'd received my mail, and guess what? It got returned to me just minutes ago. I'd put the wrong address on it. Ooops, my bad. It'll go out again tomorrow in an envelope. It's my #29, which is really a favorite of mine.

Here's one for you Postcrossing users - I got an email today after 2 weeks of a piece being out on the road, saying that my piece had arrived in Russia. "Yay!" I thought and opened it to...nothing. No comment. Nada. It was my #20, not my best piece I admit, but it ticked all the boxes on her profile.

But nothing. I feel a little let down. Does anyone else get this? Am I reading too much into it? I really like the mailart networks in that we usually keep in touch before and after the swap.

Perhaps I should just give up Postcrossing. It was my 100th card and I feel so let down!

I thought I'd say
