Even though it makes sense that we can look on each others profiles, you may want to add your address here and any blogs or other accounts you want highlighted. This way it's in a closed environment and we all get to share.

What's your default? 7 Replies

Because my friend Matt asked me this the other night, I had to think about it. His is painting a blue sky and some clouds, then he waits to see if anything more comes. His skull for Skull Appreciation Day was just the blue sky & clouds cause…Continue

Who will you send  your first piece of mail to? I've been thinking about this a lot. Will it be someone in this group? Will it be one of the many mail artists I've exchanged MA with over the years? Will it be one of my letter writing friends, or my…Continue

Significant dates for the diary (some might say...) 41 Replies

McFloozy mentioned Quack Day in February and I had a message from Valentine Mark Hermann telling me of an anniversary in February. I figured that it would be best to put all the dates in one discussion, so anyone could contribute and we could all…Continue

I just noticed that we're still growing. From 25 on December 1 to 40 now; that's spectacular.

You're all absolutely right. I'm not offended by it really, cos of course replying in a foreign language is hella difficult, but it's always a little disappointing that's all.

Agreed with most others though, that I still enjoy Postcrossing, but I will usually only send a Postcrossing on a slow mail day. As Paula and Pamela say, I prefer the feedback and community here really. Whatever suits really

Wise words PostMuse. Don't let you get you too down Andy, Aren't most of your exchanges on Postcrossing positive good ones? I've had my disappointments there but I continue because there's always the possibility that someone will get turned on to handmade because they got something from me and also the few times I've received handmade has kept my postcrossing spirits high for a long time.

But postMuse is right, as soon as it's a bothersome chore drop it. And it's nice that it isn't going anywhere. You can just take a break and come back when you feel better. Besides, you have us for positive feedback ;-)

I like postcrossing, but I use it with tourist, or location cards, not hand made. I enjoy getting the images from around the world, and the stamps!

If a card hasn't been registered, I just message the recipient, with the card ID#, and ask if they got it. They usually register it then.

I like the informal exchange, and the colorful cards, and the amazing stamps from around the world. It's not really a dialog venue.

:-)

I love Postcrossing and it kills me that I can't send as many as I would like right now because I'm watching pennies, but I well understand the disappointment of not getting a comment, or having cards not registered (I've had 17 expire in the last month!). However, I do get lots of wonderful messages and make lots of long lasting connections. Many of the people who "adopt" postcard from my Orphaned Postcard Project come via Postcrossing. And, I suspect there will be some improvements made to the site which will help with the problem of people signing up but never coming back to register cards they receive once their initial cards have been registered.

I think in Andy's case the user is very new and probably doesn't realize comments are appreciated. The comment box does say "optional." I wouldn't worry about it Andy. Send as long as you enjoy sending and if it becomes a chore, or causes angst, that is when you stop.

I also noted that I came across quite a few people on Postcrossing who specifically said that they didn't want handmade cards.
