Even though it makes sense that we can look on each others profiles, you may want to add your address here and any blogs or other accounts you want highlighted. This way it's in a closed environment and we all get to share.

What's your default? 7 Replies

Because my friend Matt asked me this the other night, I had to think about it. His is painting a blue sky and some clouds, then he waits to see if anything more comes. His skull for Skull Appreciation Day was just the blue sky & clouds cause…Continue

Who will you send  your first piece of mail to? I've been thinking about this a lot. Will it be someone in this group? Will it be one of the many mail artists I've exchanged MA with over the years? Will it be one of my letter writing friends, or my…Continue

Significant dates for the diary (some might say...) 41 Replies

McFloozy mentioned Quack Day in February and I had a message from Valentine Mark Hermann telling me of an anniversary in February. I figured that it would be best to put all the dates in one discussion, so anyone could contribute and we could all…Continue

Thank you, Naomi! Cool information about the forum, too!

I have sent 2 pieces as officials yesterday. They aren't registered yet but here are their ID's: US-968719 and US-968724, in case they are by the time the blog is written. Here is my profile: http://www.postcrossing.com/user/nhigh. I send a lot more cards through the Postcrossing forum than the main site. As an FYI for anyone, there are several handmade tags on the forum.

There is a possibility that the folk at Postcrossing might feature MailArt365 on their blog. If they do, they would like to link Postcrossing profiles of the MailArt365 participants.

If you are a Postcrosser, could you either post here, or message me, your Postcrossing name and permission to link you in the blog post? Also, if you have had any of your MailArt365 pieces registered, would you included the Postcrossing ID so we can link a few examples?

Thank you!

Disqus comments system now removed!

However, I couldn't find a satisfactory "recent comments" widget, so I've retained the Disqus recent comments widget on the bottom. I've yet to see if this will work.

oh blimey. I must have blinked, but we've just gone past 1000 posts. We're actually on 1012 already, and I was gonna give a whoop and cheer for the 1000th poster too...

Whoop.

Cheer.

Disqus is the strange commenting system I have put in on the main blog page Boo.

OK, let me try and see what happens when I remove it, cos it's getting on my nerves now!

What I will lose is

  • The ability to moderate comments with others (Sorry Camel) - this is my main bugbear as it may mean more work for me, but if you spot anything silly do flag it up
  • That like/dislike thing (no-one used it anyway)
  • Reactions (Doesn't blgoger do something called Trackback anyway?)
  • Some comments may disappear. Do tell me if this happens!
  • Threaded comment discussion. This was always a 50-50 point

What we gain

  • Better mobile comments! Amen
  • Everyone can finally log in with their blogger accounts. Amen again
  • OK OK those first 2 are enough to convince me to do it. Here goes...

Wish me luck...

Disqus is not my favorite system. It takes a long time to load on my iPhone, and I've had a few people say they couldn't comment on my posts because they couldn't get Disqus to work. Also, the comment count is rarely correct. I don't get the feeds will all comments, even though it is set on my profile to get the comments. I will be honest and say I'd celebrate if Disqus was gone. It might be great for some blog systems, but it fights too much with Blogger.

I've had no trouble posting comments here or on the blog page. What is disqus?

I just need to check - Elena has had trouble posting comments. Has anyone else not been able to post comments?

I'm now seriously starting to consider removing disqus. What do he rest of you think?

I expect it any day now. No, not really. In America you have to be dead to get your face on a stamp, so I'm not really looking for that in the four or five decades.
