What's your default? 7 Replies

Because my friend Matt asked me this the other night, I had to think about it. His is painting a blue sky and some clouds, then he waits to see if anything more comes. His skull for Skull Appreciation Day was just the blue sky & clouds cause…Continue

Who will you send  your first piece of mail to? I've been thinking about this a lot. Will it be someone in this group? Will it be one of the many mail artists I've exchanged MA with over the years? Will it be one of my letter writing friends, or my…Continue

Significant dates for the diary (some might say...) 41 Replies

McFloozy mentioned Quack Day in February and I had a message from Valentine Mark Hermann telling me of an anniversary in February. I figured that it would be best to put all the dates in one discussion, so anyone could contribute and we could all…Continue

Post, bad news ... you have been in a couple of Mail Art shows here in Canada ...we regularly include your work in shows here at the Museum!

I've read so many blogs and post in the last few weeks I forget who is doing what. There is one of us that has a lovely blog about pen and pen nubs, I found and ad from 1952 Time magazine about pens and pen nubs. I would be happy to send it to them if I could remember who and if they are interested. Let me know.

Hi Postmuse - It's perfectly ok, in fact it would be GREAT if you would post your mailart online before it gets displayed. We'll display it on this end as well.

There is only one mailart call that I expressly forbid you to do that for, but for now it's a secret.... ;-)

I have never participated in a mail art show, so I'm not sure about display etiquette. Would it be in bad taste for me to post images online of my contribution before it has had a chance to appear in the show?

On the graphic novel front ... Maus is heavy but good. Although right now I just finished a collection of American Flagg and am moving on to Drawn and Quarterly's part two with Lynda Barry 'picture this'.

Glad you like the people. It is offering a good distraction on my
walks, looking for letter shaped people. ( my
rule is I have to see the letter to draw it )

ps Andy you would be the first indoor permanent mail art display in London. Mail art Martha converted her shopping trolley into a mobile mail art museum. But she 'forgot' it the front hall of the Tate.

May I say, SUPER jealous ('cause I'm stuck in the states) and SUPER excited for this mail art call for the Pimlico Library. This has fuled my inspiration to get some of MInnesota's art institutions and maybe even a few libraries to get involved in the mailart world....will keep you posted on my progress! Maybe some colaborations?

By the way, I got some feedback from the Westminster library manager yesterday. Thought you'd like this one...

Loving the feedbcak...it's like for the first time the blog is getting actually commented on...it's pretty exciting. I think this mail art show could be the best thing about the GRA (graphic novel) season. Thanks!

So there we have it! Let's flood their mailbox!

The mailart call for Westminster libraries, in partnership with my REAL wall is now up online! Check it out at http://wcclibraries.wordpress.com/2011/02/04/little-big-stories-a-m...

Any additional publicity on this would be hugely appreciated and of course, all of your pieces are more than welcome! The deadline for this is March 11th, and the pieces are going up on the walls of Pimlico library.

My Year of the Bunny postcards are coming along nicely. I got to the post office at 5:51 and managed to get 4 or 5 of them postmarked February 3. I was relieved to learn the new year celebration lasts two weeks, but some time before then I've signed up to do Valentine mail art. Glad you like the art, JJ!

I didn't post that image very well ... it is not that long. Better image is in my Incoming album here on IUOMA.
