What's your default? 7 Replies

Because my friend Matt asked me this the other night, I had to think about it. His is painting a blue sky and some clouds, then he waits to see if anything more comes. His skull for Skull Appreciation Day was just the blue sky & clouds cause…Continue

Who will you send  your first piece of mail to? I've been thinking about this a lot. Will it be someone in this group? Will it be one of the many mail artists I've exchanged MA with over the years? Will it be one of my letter writing friends, or my…Continue

Significant dates for the diary (some might say...) 41 Replies

McFloozy mentioned Quack Day in February and I had a message from Valentine Mark Hermann telling me of an anniversary in February. I figured that it would be best to put all the dates in one discussion, so anyone could contribute and we could all…Continue

Only in mail art would one read this ..... "I'll trade up my difficult to mail nipple painting for the dog fur one."  I love it!

Pamela ... I'm going in random order. As the ideas come to me. Only adhering to the start with an exclaimation and end in a comma. After Friday night, it looks like I have a couple of letters I never expected to see.

Ps march is manga month.

Vellum, I am currently using something called Bristol board vellum. Very easy to work with in situe. And cutting my own cards keeps the cost down.

Andy, I'll trade up my difficult to mail nipple painting for the dog fur one.

Tracing paper(rice) is cheap-cheap by the 1 meter rolls here in Greece, but what I use for print-outs is the more expensive architectural vellum Canson, comes from France, good stuff! I will try rolling out the glue finely...that may work wonders! Thanks a lot!

@Katerina Nikoltsou:

i use a roller to flaten my glue before laying the vellum...

are you actually wanting arcitectural vellum or tracing paper...

Hey gang a quick heads up - we're expecting a deluge of new visitors to the site this weekend as there will be a littl feature on the project up somewhere. I reckon it will happen tomorrow...

Also, thanks to all of you for the support with Little Big Stories. Please keep the comments up and spread the word, it will really help it to work!

I spoke to the librarian who is helping to make this happen and he was so excited about this, even more than having guest speakers. I've already had interest from a school in the uk who want to take part and two other non-mail artists.

If you do intend to send a piece, do please comment on the blog at http://wcclibraries.wordpress.com/2011/02/04/little-big-stories-a-m... to let the librarians know they are going to get flooded and to keep the excitement up!

Thanks again

Thank you, Postmuse, vellum in Greece can be inexpensive "rice paper" and it is a rough texture, the more expensive is imported and a finer quality. Both do not glue well ;-( So when I use them in these 4-page or 8-page booklets, they are actually "sewn" at the binding. A couple of times for collages I tried just stapling, it's ok, but I don't like staples on the back side...Anyone has a method for gluing vellum?
