Our addresses 131 Replies

Even though it makes sense that we can look on each others profiles, you may want to add your address here and any blogs or other accounts you want highlighted. This way it's in a closed environment and we all get to share.

What's your default? 7 Replies

Because my friend Matt asked me this the other night, I had to think about it. His is painting a blue sky and some clouds, then he waits to see if anything more comes. His skull for Skull Appreciation Day was just the blue sky & clouds cause…Continue

Who will you send  your first piece of mail to? I've been thinking about this a lot. Will it be someone in this group? Will it be one of the many mail artists I've exchanged MA with over the years? Will it be one of my letter writing friends, or my…Continue

Significant dates for the diary (some might say...) 41 Replies

McFloozy mentioned Quack Day in February and I had a message from Valentine Mark Hermann telling me of an anniversary in February. I figured that it would be best to put all the dates in one discussion, so anyone could contribute and we could all…Continue

Yup Rani we currently have 57 people eligible to write, and 4 outstanding invites.

On another note, you may not have noticed this, but my tech god mate Jay has made a very subtle change to the site. Now there are thumbnails for EVERY post with a pic, even the ones in the archive! I am utterly impressed! In addition he made the template work so that you can click on the image and it takes you through to the post (rather than the pic as before) and

As this has been the most requested feature from y'all, I've said that I'd send thank you post in the mail. If anyone else wants to, I have promised him not to post his address up publicly but I can sort it out for you personally if you request it

posting your address is really up to you.

an image is harder for auto robots to retrieve than actually posting it in type.

a typed address can be "not so good" - trust me

I try to freely post my own address. The natural consequences accrue to me. I try to remove the recipient's address UNLESS they have it posted publicly on their web site. In that case, I figure it's 'public domain' or poetic license or some other kind of authorization.

Away for the weekend. Can we schedule a 'MailArt Retreat' in a warm place. Andy, how about a MailArt Cruise? Keep me posted on that development.

Personally, I leave the address decision in the hands of the person posting. I'm not particularly paranoid but I did recently erase one address digitally after the recipient asked me to.

As everyone is responsible for their own posting, I prefer to leave it in their hands whether to post an address or not. Sometimes it's unavoidable, sometimes you just want more mailart! I'll leave the choice of address posting up to you

Sometimes it's hard to keep your address private. I've had the address side of cards I've sent posted on people's blogs. When I post an envelope or address side, because it has something interesting on it, I usually obscure the sender's address. Not everyone does that. In all my years of doing this, however, I haven't had anything undue happen. I hope that doesn't change.

Since it looks like we r making Admin announcements ... Here is my two bits....

Please do not post your home address anywhere on the net that is not password protected.

PO box - whatever - but your home address is just unsafe.

Also - any of our Newbies that are windows users & needing tech support...

I have remote support capability - this is available for any technical issue & not just blog stuff.

Contact me @ camel@mailart365.com

As for "other blogs" - i have tried to "follow" all of your blogs some of us are new to the whole blog thing or have just started one - following can expose exponential numbers of visitors to your blog as well as others blogs.

@Andy - better catch up man!!!

Hi folks! If you were wondering what happened to that nice Andy chap and his posts on Mailart365, I've been a little busy with all the new applicants! You wouldn't believe how many people have come through from the Postcrossing blog!

Anyway, welcome to mailart 365 those new people and just a few reminders to all of you really.

If I've not added your blogs to the "Our other blogs" bit, please please tell me! I love looking at your other blogs and it's lovely to see the stuff you guys write. In addition, don't forget to add the Mailart365 badge to your site and if you really want to fly your colours, I can sort you out with your own @mailart365.com address forward thing as well if you just ask - don't be shy!
