What's your default? 7 Replies

Because my friend Matt asked me this the other night, I had to think about it. His is painting a blue sky and some clouds, then he waits to see if anything more comes. His skull for Skull Appreciation Day was just the blue sky & clouds cause…Continue

Who will you send  your first piece of mail to? I've been thinking about this a lot. Will it be someone in this group? Will it be one of the many mail artists I've exchanged MA with over the years? Will it be one of my letter writing friends, or my…Continue

Significant dates for the diary (some might say...) 41 Replies

McFloozy mentioned Quack Day in February and I had a message from Valentine Mark Hermann telling me of an anniversary in February. I figured that it would be best to put all the dates in one discussion, so anyone could contribute and we could all…Continue

egg-sellent conversation.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate Easter. Happy Spring to the northern hemisphere. happy fall to the down-unders. Hey, Happy MailArt to all.

ps- we used to dye eggs. on break now cuz both kids are away at school. i did deliver a chocolate bunny though. not ready to give that up. AND a chocolate carrot. more nutritious, i suspect.

Beautiful eggs Katerina, Gabby and Cernjul!

I'm not Christian, but always enjoyed dying eggs. My girls enjoyed watching me blow the innards out of the eggs (no one liked hard-cooked eggs in my house ... and I preferred leaving the colored eggs out as decoration anyway). It was always so much fun making a mess with the dye and different techniques every year. My eldest daughter does the egg coloring with my grandchildren now. It's just one of those fun family things we started doing because everyone else did, and it just took on a life of its own.

Ink Blot Test #3 was sent to me -- loved it.

And I really love those Greek easter eggs, Katerina. My next door neighbor for many years is Greek and she gives me that same bread, Greek cookies and red eggs every year for Easter. And she taught me how to make the red dye eggs. I save them for years (they just sort of hollow out) nd have a big collection to set out every year. I should have made cards but I have been sick with a miserable cold all week and I'm having no fun...Happy Easter to those who celebrate.

Katerina those are gorgeous. Gabby, those remind me of when my kids would do eggs. Fun! Thanks for sharing each of the different styles.

Beautiful Easter eggs! ΚΑΛΟ ΠΑΣΧΑ everyone! here in Greece the eggs are dyed red, red and red...then I go and add my old Polish grandmother's traditional designs. There is also the traditionl Greek Easter bread...and lots of lamb-on-the-spit. This will go on until next sunday. OPA!

HAPPY EASTER!

Yeah, Paula.  We did the wax thing, as well.  Then we ate lots of egg salad, creamed eggs, etc  And yes, shopping for a whole new Easter outfit, organdy, frills, hats, shoes.  It was pretty exciting.  I hope your family can get through and the rain lets up!  Sounds like an indoor Easter Egg hunt to me.  Better start hiding those eggs!  Stay dry and have a great day.

Sue, I used to love dying Easter eggs when I was a kid. My mom even tried the type where you covered part of the eggs with wax to make designs on them. Easter was such a big deal -- new dress & hat ever year! Today I think it's mostly store-bought eggs. This year we've had rain non-stop for days, and now they're starting to close roads around here today. My yard looks like I need an ark to get to my car! And we've got seven kids in the family expecting an egg hunt this afternoon!
