Because my friend Matt asked me this the other night, I had to think about it. His is painting a blue sky and some clouds, then he waits to see if anything more comes. His skull for Skull Appreciation Day was just the blue sky & clouds cause…Continue

Who will you send  your first piece of mail to? I've been thinking about this a lot. Will it be someone in this group? Will it be one of the many mail artists I've exchanged MA with over the years? Will it be one of my letter writing friends, or my…Continue

Significant dates for the diary (some might say...) 41 Replies

McFloozy mentioned Quack Day in February and I had a message from Valentine Mark Hermann telling me of an anniversary in February. I figured that it would be best to put all the dates in one discussion, so anyone could contribute and we could all…Continue

Andy,

Thanks for the update, I'm sure you have been busy trying to catch up from being gone on your honeymoon. I might have to send out my faux royal wedding stamps!

Postmuse I have made my husband his post office's favorite customer. A few weeks ago I did a mail art thank for the workers there along with a big gift bag of candy. They have been very helpful with hand stamping, postal regulations and support of the mail art in general. The post master came out and said they had never received a thank you before. Now when he comes in they all stop and come over to see what mail art I have done.  It is nice to be on good terms with your postal worker!

Oh Postmuse you are priceless. I too believe in supporting the local places, but our smaller post offices don't always stock the special editions, so I tend to go to the central London branches. Can't get enough of those special editions

When I walk into the post office, the clerks call out "If you need to buy postage, get it now, 'cause Postmuse is here and she'll clean us out!" They do call me Postmuse. And then they tell other customers that if they need to know when the new releases are out, to ask me, 'cause I always know before them.

I fully expect that they are going to give me a holiday tip this year .... I used to buy my postage online, but now I buy at that post office 'cause they need the sales to stay open. If they close that office, which is a minute walk from my office, then next nearest one to work is a good 15 minute walk. Can't run out a couple of times a day to mail or buy postage if I have to use that one.

Hey Laura - been really busy in the office since getting back - usually I get a chance to escape to the Post Office for lunch, but not this week, so sadly it's a bit of a stamp blackout for me at the moment. I don't rate my chances sadly, but will go looking this weekend and will say my favourite lines...

"Hi, have you got any [limited edition/fancy] stamps?"

"Yes sir, how many would you like?"

"All of them please. Every last one."

I'm sure I'm not the only one here who likes that last line right? Mim? Postmuse? I bet you do that every week or so...

IMHO = in my humble opinion.

generally speaking people that use it don't think their opinions all that humble.

it's more a rhetoric sort of thing ;-)

@sue: if you don't know, best not to do it!

Gives you much more power over your phone, but voids the warranty! It lets me port some of my non-java programs to my phone without needing to use android dev tools beyond the cross compiler!

I used to be a programmer in a former life!
