We did a "voluntary evacuation" yesterday, to a Red Cross shelter because the Mohawk River, which joins the Hudson about 1/4 mile north of us, was flooding, and it had covered most of the road in front of our complex. The Hudson, behind us, had topped its banks. And the power went out. The Vischer's Ferry Dam at Lock 7 on the Mohawk was "compromised" and officials feared it would give way, which meant we would have had an excellent opp for body surfing, as the Mohawk rushed through! We decided to pass on that. (Wahhh!) We got the all clear this morn, and are home now. Power back on - hooray! Can't say enuf about the Red Cross staff - wonderful!

Troy has experienced flooding - Elizabeth and Mr. Palmiter live there....anybody hear from them?

"Waahhh" - don't you just love vocabulary!? :)
