The idea of multiple people contributing to a story/novel via mail/mail art is not something that Alex owns. It's called an "exquisite corpse" in writing... where you add part of the story and pass it to another person who continues the same story. The book "Naked Came The Manatee" is an example of such a novel that was published years ago by a set of horror/fiction writers. There is a Thai movie called "Mysterious Object at Noon" where they do the same thing with a video camera, so everybody who got the camera would tell a story with it and then the next person would continue that story. I just mention all of that because really don't think we need Alex's permission to send around another sketch book in an add an pass fashion.

I have an observation and a suggestion. Alex was not the first person in the network to start a do-a-bit-and-pass-along project, similar projects have been running since the 70s.
I suggest that others start the same project, why not have several novels circulating?
Mail art is special because there are no rules, no entrance examination, no votes. Let us desist from taking ourselves so seriously.

There are so many people waiting to receive the novel, me included, that I was thinking that maybe some kind of vetting process or contest or something could be developed by everyone involved to select the next 5 recipients... maybe everyone who wants to receive the novel write a proposal for the page they want to submit and then the people who have received it vote to choose the top five next recipients. Such a proposal would also be a way of finding out who really wants to participate as opposed to who put their name into the hopper because they could do so, but who would otherwise not be so interested in contributing.

I love the photo's of the novel in different places. Please make photos's of the novel when you get the chance. Publish them here too.

It was in this morning's mail at the university post office.
Expect arrival at...mysterious place...(TOP SECRET),
hopefully by next Wednesday, November 25th, or
Thursday or Friday?
