Bonjour!

In connection with the forthcoming 'Mail2Maastricht' Exhibition, I've gotten hold of the Jan van Eyck Academie's publication on the Agora Network and various Fandangos. The booklet documents various Mail Art magazines and occasional publications that existed in the 60's and 70s. I suspect that they continued well into the 80's and the 90's too.

What I would like to ask is:

ARE THERE ANY MAIL ART MAGAZINES CURRENTLY IN EXISTENCE (in printed form)?

Revistas propiamente dicha no existe por lo menos yo no la conozco . lo que si tengo son catalogos impresos de los años 80 muy interesantes los que se hicieron en las escuelas de artes y oficios y en BILBAO dedicado A LA BICICLETA

Only a few as far as I know. Internet has taken over most of the communication about projects.....
How very sad!

Hi Val,

You can start one!

Ruud

I can start a Mail Art margazine! Ha! But I do thank IUOMA for offering its full editorial, inspirational, artistic, organisational, networking, and last but not least, financial support for the forthcoming project. I will give you the details of my bank account soon. An initial IUOMA contribution of half a million Euros should be enough to launch the project. Will you accept the position of Executive Editor? (if so, you get to do all the work). Regards, Val

Hi there Val! :-)

Here are a couple suggestions for you, in regards to mail art magazines in printed format:

Gianni Simone's "Kairan" is excellent; you can find him here on the IUOMA, and also on the Ning group "We Make Zines". I believe he's up to issue number 16 now...

Gianni's blog: http://gloomy-sundays.blogspot.com/

"We Make Zines" profile: http://wemakezines.ning.com/profile/GianniSimone

I just received a recent issue of "Node Pajomo", which is a really fun mail art zine that lists mail art projects all around the world. You can find out more info at:  http://ronsen.org/monkminkpinkpunk/17/nodepajomo.html

And I would be happy to send you an issue of the mail art zine that I put out awhile ago called "Red Letter Day". I keep saying I'm going to complete issue #4, and this might just be the year that I make good on that promise! :-)

Just send me a message over on my home page, and let me know what you think...
