Victorian DaDa

Information

Victorian DaDa

DeVillo Sloan inspired me to start this group, and I'd like help defining it, and would love to see other examples besides my own.

This group is dedicated to mail art, perhaps with a time period theme (Pre-Raphaelite, Flapper, Byzantine, Edwardian, even modern day) of an elegant nature spiked with a Dada / Surreal twist.

Elements can be added as creatively as the artist would like.... Or taken out. Nature is prevalent due to the Romantic floral effect and poetry (often cut & paste) is incorporated. An arm or leg can be truncated and repositioned. Woo Hoo!

Or anything you feel like.

Thank you, and hope to see you here!

Xx.

Sounds like a plan, lets keep her in our thoughts, keep the Victorian DaDa, alive!

Some of us came to know Gin well, here & on FB. She's a generous giving person - the kind who makes mail-art to cheer up people who are ill or very, very elderly. Without going into it, Gin has her own challenges that she has to deal with. I know she won't mind me saying this. I also gathered from the conversations I had with her that she is in a safe and supportive environment. She just has stuff to deal with like all of us do.

I agree and re-affirm. The best thing to honor Gin is to keep the group going and trying to fulfill her vision. Her work is a guide.

I would not be surprised if she eventually returns.

I am only named in the group intro (written by Gin) because I used "Victorian DaDa" to (fumblingly) describe her unique approach in a blog.
