Thank you so much! I received your mini bookie on Friday and this was my best event in this weekend! I adore your art. It is wonderful how you can give so much emotions with minimal resources, but these minimal resources ar greater than any big mailart can give. I hope there will be further mailart exchanges if only you are interested receive something from me... Because I feel like I never be able to create something so beautiful and sensitive as you.

Have a nice sunday and next week!

I meant to add - I read this essay by someone who was studying mail-art in graduate school (snicker, snicker) that claimed if something was mailed in an envelope it was not real mail-art. The work you are mailing, whatever it is, must necessarily be exposed to the elements.

This was issued as a kind of proclamation or definition. And it's TOTALLY INACCURATE as far as I know. Maybe I misunderstood the Mail-Artologist. But Ray Johnson himself mailed the majority of his work in envelopes & of course envelope decoration is an integral part that most of us love.

So I've always wondered where that mail-art "rule" - technically issued by academe - came from. Yet there is a difference between mail-art and art that is mailed, I think. There could be a case for that.

Hi Christopher, I'm glad the blog is OK with you. Scans don't really capture the excellence of the work.

Repair of that piece is fairly easy. I accented the damage because, yes, many mail-artists do view what happens to the work in the postal system as actually part of the composition, or the performance. Not everyone is into that, but I thought I'd emphasize it for those who are.

Well, I am hoping we will continue to exchange in the future so we'll both have opportunities to get intact work to each other.

Thanks again, DVS

Hi Christopher, your excellent m-a arived in NY (with some bumps from the dusty trail). Many thanks pardner - really wonderful. And generally - just totally impressed with what you are doing w/ Asemics. Hope you can be active in the Asemic Writing for Mail-Artists group here  at Yo Ma; you provide a valuable perspective. Bonjour Christopher! I've just worked out that you are 'letraset', and so M Letraset, many thabks indeed for the great piece that you sent me. At first, I thought it was from someone in the Arty Slides International Greoup -- if you don't know about this bit of IUOMA, and if you use 35 mm film a lot, you might want to join in. The piece that you sent me is really beautiful: thank you very much.

If, and when, I can tear myself away from the beach, I'll send you something back, but be warned that it won't be nearly as good as what you sent me.

Mercy buckets, Val

Exceedingly! Every time I try to hold something down my hand shakes, thus, I'm very slow now... "Patience is a virtue" I'm always reminding myself! %_^ A brain tumor operation - it grew misdiagnosed for 10 yrs., so when they finally found it, lots of nerves were bundled into it & had to be severed. [Too much info huh? %_^]

Oh, that would be great! How sweet of you! ^_^ I've been looking for a cool "Mail Art" stamp for a while... Thank you very much indeed!

Noted. Surprise it is...

Your own letterpress - how wondrous!

Thanks again Christopher!

Thanks for all the info Christopher - much appreciated!

Unfortunately, I lost the fine motor movement in my right hand [I'm right handed] about 20 years ago, so I'm afraid that might prove a tad dangerous for me... Would you consider making & selling me one? (I understand if it's your mark & you want to keep it for yourself only of course %_^)

btw, I'm sending you a - well, a sort of "place-holder" piece until I have time to do something more substantial... I've a tendency to work in a number of different aesthetic directions, is there any particular work you saw that interested you?

The "first mail art" arrived safely to Republik van Patland.  It goes straight to the Patlander Museum of Fine Arts. Mail artists like you have been able to capture and translate into postal related items society’s dreams, expectations and transformations which touch people’s sensibility and consequently the social tissue. I just received a tiny bit of this love story. The "Missent to Thailand" stamp is something to write mom about. Greetings form your first post.

Hello Christopher - I received your brilliant little book today - what an eye and touch you have! Thank you so much, truly...And with the wondrous little glyphs stamp you posted in "Asemic Writing... !"

2 questions:

a: do you print your own stamps? If so, do you use pre-perf. paper, or a special scissor or puch for the edges?

b: dis you make or buy the "mail art" stamp? if you bought it, may I ask where?

Eventual reply... Thanks again!
