Is it called washi? Oh, OK. I thought washi was just a name for japanese handmade paper in general. Well, in any case it looks great, no doubt about that!

Jen! Got your fantastic mail, thank you! Another coincidence: yesterday I saw that exact same set of tape you used for framing your piece in a shop. I was about to buy it, but decided not to. And when I came back home I found your fab in my mailbox, with that same tape! Now that I saw what you did with it I think I will go back to that shop at some point and buy it.

Bonsoir! Don't worry, the hats and other things will be back soon, when I next re-invent myself and change my identity again. In the meantime, you can imagine that the circle contains something, anything nice (including me in a hat), even a smiley face;

Hey Jen, we're home...it was wonderful...three plays, two museums and a lot of eating and walking around...but strangely enough almost no galleries...I think art is really suffering during the recession....even in the tony meatpacking business....It's possible we just didn't go to the right parts of town but we hit a lot of neighborhoods. Anyway....home again, home again, jiggedy jig....

Dunno about you, but we were without power from 9:30 on Tuesday until about 6 last night. Did y'all suffer any hail damage?

Got your cool repurposed book yesterday. Thank you, Jen. I'm off to Manhattan for a week. I'll try and squeeze some mail art for you out of the experience.

Sadly, the book project is a work-related nightmare that has kept me up at night. A crappy little poetry book for a client but it's finished at last. The mail art quilt was printed on June Tailor Computer Printer Fabric, available at your local office depot. The picture itself is a composite. I took Patti's pic and then she took mine and I put them together with a third pic of all the mail art I've received. When I finish a book of my own you will certainly be given a signed copy. In the interim you may have to be content with a signed postcard.

Jen, you know from the start I thought your work was a great direction to explore. I know that it even comes from an academic place. I'm interested in the relationship between art and fashion too. So don't worry kid, I totally get it.

Hi Jen, it is not possible to embarrass me. I'm not someone who flips out about anything they receive - as we've seen strange cases of people who say they want mail-art and then freak when they receive something. You know the spirit always was (who knows what this thing has become?) to accept all with an open mind and appreciation. I STILL have something from you to post. I'm just cutting back a bit right now. Please send! And I'll do the best response I can. Hope we can keep better in touch - DVS

Sorry to hear about the house deal. A safe in the floor might have been a liability when you think about it. Guests come by, you're sitting around after dinner, right in the middle of 30 rock you have to tell everybody to roll back the furniture because you want to place some valuable old 65 Vogue magazines in the safe. It's just awkward.
