I mailed my first piece in 1990, but perhaps some of the old envelopes that I've employed have earlier dates on them, but I can't contend that my work pre-dates 1990. My first was a stamp of Bug Bunny taken from a magazine with his ears extending beyond the borders of the cartoon perforations. My motivation came from an article about a Doonesbury cartoon that was drawn as postage stamps and folks cut those out, glued them to envelopes and sent them successfully through the mail.
Hi Bradford, thanks so much! For some reason I'm just seeing your message, I think I just haven't gotten the hang of the IUOMA site yet. You have such a great collection of work on your page. Would you like to do an exchange?
Thanks for the feedback. I was trying for a Bruno C. flashy image. it took some time and i'm still not sure but ya can't go wrong with pinials as finials (had to look that one up - i was sure it was a bird term..jeje) or with avians. Will send snail mail one of these days.... if the post office survives in the USA...ciao
Bradford, Thanks for the link to the postage stamps made from the algae of the Venice Lagoon. It's a very interesting story and explanation of the stamp-making process.
Well, Deadwood, South Dakotey finally caught up with the rest of the nation. Today, the mayor held a special meeting at noon, passed Deadwood Resolution No.10 which shut down all the casinos at 5 p.m. In other local news, Sturgis Guns is giving every gun buyer a free bible with their purchase.

Thank you so much. As of right now the Beard award is just a nomination. Winners will be announced in September.

Wow, that was definitely me. I haven't had any in years. I had one named Harriett who lived for years and years.
That is TWISTED!
