The Crimson Giant and The Tower of Babel, bound!

I'm glad I sent all the chapters to Cheryl, she's the master of all boekies. I LOOOVE the binding, and it even comes with a hardcover! Needless to say I could never have done this myself. Thank you for this great present! And thank you to everyone who sent in their chapter(s), Cheryl, Bifidus, Sloan and Batgirl.

We had great discussions about all The Crimson Giant chapters here at IUOMA. They're buried somewhere. In terms of concept - I was exploring Litsa Spathi's Fluxus Poetics - that suggests the act of creating a poem (a kind of performance) is really part of the poem - far more than words on a page. I was talking to Erni Baer from Germany about the shotgun paintings by William S. Burroughs where he fired a gun at canvases and boards to make the pieces. That's the concept part. I was also so ANNOYED with Cheryl at the time I poked holes in paper and mailed them to her in lieu of a real chapter - although it turned out to be the chapter. She did a great blog on this. She also sent me a piece called "Attack" which is very similar in approach.

Did De Villo Sloan realize the impact of making empty spaces OR was it done by mistake?

Empty spaces in an installation, etc. are vital to the overall composition of a piece.

Wilma, those holes were made by DVS's own fingers.

I still have Crimson-Nostalgia, it was indeed a great project, there was something special about it.

De Villo Sloan,

I'm pleased that you recognize that "empty spaces" are as important as "full spaces."

Never forget "balance."

Yip, "In the beginning was the hole..." Oh, and this is absolutely GORGEOUS - what a project.

I think the whole hole business started with THAT very hole.

Check out the hole in the bottom scan. That hole is art.
