MinXus Masterpiece arrives in Greece from Marie in Japan

The little royal minks/minXus on the envelope announce that the contents will be special: art from Marie Wintzer.

I always take care when opening the envelope from Marie, so as not to destroy the beauty of the whole image. The sides are sliced first and then cut across not at the top, but where the image begins, and then unfolded...

it is a beauty by itself...both sides now, both in and out :-)

Shanty town in Japan...close up...pure poetry:

Very thin and delicate paper, the envelope contains a boekie of "Soap Bubbles and Babble Soup"

made with transparent plastic prints overlaid on other layered images, black and white, dash of color...

Time to read it, visually, in eloquent silence....page by wondrous page:

getting close-up-and-personal...

..ending with the "publisher's trade mark":

This can be seen at MinXus Lynxus...but do you visit there often?

Marie is a kind of mail-art Doris Day, and that song nails this bubble thing that is going on in her work. Let us also not forget the huge contributions of Don Ho. Given Marie's love of wine, I see this as an influence too:

I thought that Marie might be singing along with D.D. while making these bubble pages:

Marie's recent discovery of Shirley Temple seems to be having an impact on her work.

'Love the images you found, Marie! "Soap bubbles"...with kids inside :-)

"Soap Bubbles - Babble Soup" Happily "absurd"!!!

Do not misunderstand me; you can achieve a lot with black & white only. But it's definitely an aesthetic choice that could be viewed as retro or very philosophically severe in terms of draining things of color. You have images of kids & magicians engaged in absurd things. I like it very much.

Black, white & red works. (Don't forget to throw in a few red circles for cryptic value.)

You are very observant, DV. I reckon much depends on the material I find. The other day I came back from booktown with four huge magazines and they are all in black and white. I like them a lot but now I feel that it needs a touch of color. The Musical Tinkle series is very colorful, maybe for some balance?

Definitely thanks to Katerina for putting this together.

Marie, I'm really wondering about this trend I think I see where you're working mostly in black and white. David Chirot seemed to be going through that about maybe, oh a year ago & it was kind of chilling, really Existential work.

Thank you!! I can't imagine how much time it took you to take and upload all these pictures and to write such a nice commentary. Thank you so much, I'm really happy you like it!
