Hippie Dippy Art Haul...check out what came today!

I recently added an artcall http://hippiedippyartcall.blogspot.com/ and today the first pieces showed up...a big THANK-YOU to Roberto, Guido and Angie...check out what they sent. First up A Hippie Dippy Envelope from Guido~with prizes inside...YAY  Love the colors, even better in person and an extra thank you for the beautiful xenographic! I'll definitely be making some REBELLION mailart soon :)

Next an awesome fish collage from Angie and Snooky...FISHTASIC! Jake will get a huge kick out of the fact that used his nickname as an inspiration and I love the black background :)

and last but certainly not least a Janis Joplin collage in a beautiful envelope from Rober Rios...the envelope was so pretty and neatly done I didn't want to open it but sooner than later my curiosity got the best of me.  I opened just the corner and saw a great splash of color and had to just see. I opened it immediately and boy was it worth it.  I love the colors, the parking sign and of course the ultra cool Janis graphic. I'll start with the envelope

And his Janis Joplin collage

Thank-you all so much for helping me hook up the kid! Forever Grateful <3

Wow, all great stuff. But my heart belongs to Janis.

It's 18x24 inches (46x64 cm) (just looked it up). It's at MOMA--guess I haven't looked at Klee in a while, duh.

Ah, I see--well Klee seems to be good inspiration for you--he must really get in there.

Definately plan to make some hippy mail art. It will be a nice challenge. Austin--sounds like you've got some frequent fryer miles going there. BTW, got some great mail art from you yesterday with your beautiful laminating and rock edgy style. Thank you! My scanner isn't working at the moment so I can't post it.

Great art for this call so far you guys. I'm sure this will make Arac's son very happy!

All three pieces are fantastic, what a great idea for a call. Angie's really knocks my sox off--wonderfully original composition.

A professor was highly insulted when I called him an opera freak in 1971. "Opera BUFF," he corrected. He must have been kidding, since we were at a hippie dippy school. Very interesting conversation, Erni and Austin ...

My favorite is "Scarlet Begonias", which almost ALWAYS lead into "Fire on the Mountain". 'Fire' was actually written while a wildfire blazed on the horizon near the studio where the band was recording the album "Shakedown Street".

My friends & I still use the term "Freaks", & I catch myself saying "Groovy" quite a bit. :D

I have a Jethro Tull tattoo on one leg & a Grateful Dead one on the other. My trip count to date is 268.

Peace & Love,

Well Erni, most of my pieces are inspire by the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Jethro Tull, the psychedelic years of the The Beatles, Blind Faith, Hendrix, Arlo Guthrie, & The Who. By the way way Janis actually played "Me & Bobby McGee" with the Dead first, since they all resided at 710 Ashbury; & the Dead were there when she got the sheet music in the mail from Kristofferson.

I'm saving up all my pieces for this Art-Plea so they arrived either at once or by installments.
